I’m on the waitlist, but I have to take the UC writing requirement test on may 12. However, if I don’t get in off the waitlist I won’t be going to a UC. What should I do? The latest date to register for the test may 9, but is there any way I can fill the requirement another way if I get in but don’t hear by may 9?

I was wondering the same thing abut the placement test. I have checked my waitlist and appeal status every day and the decision is still pending. I know UCI has admitted students off the waitlist while UCSD did not admit any. I wonder why their decisions came out so early.

I called UCSB about the UC writing placement test and the lady said it will be available again in the fall. We just would not be able to register for an English class. This waiting is driving me crazy. It looks like they started letting people know on May 3, 2010 and May 4th or 5th, 2011. Not sure why it cannot be today.

From Ms. Sun’s UC Admissions Blog:

“Santa Barbara is a little over on the number of California resident SIRs. So I don’t think the campus will be accepting students from the waitlist … get out your backup plan!”

I don’t know if this may help but one another forum I read that some kids had gotten back appeals and that they went through at UCSB.

@Coltsfan50
Do you have the link for that forum?

did anyone hear back yet?? ): ms. sun said chances of anymore cali residents are slim… i hope its just a rumor!

Patiently, hopefully waiting…

Called again, this time the lady told me we should hear back by “sometime next week” -___-

This wait is agonizing! Anyone heard from any appeals? My appeal has said decision pending for three weeks now

I know someone who got in off waitlist yesterday.

I don’t mean to discourage, but if the section still says “decision pending” then you most likely didn’t get in.

I waited 4 days after the UCSC acceptances were released and still my application said “decision pending.”

I’m hoping I’m wrong. I’d really love to get into UCSB.

@2012poster what do you mean you waited four days after ucsc acceptances were released?

@2012poster what’s his/her stats?

I called UCSB today and they said they aren’t releasing anything about the waitlist until “later this week.” Last week it was “early next week”. How does UCLA start accepting people off the wait list and SB can’t seem to get it together. Also, aren’t appeals admitted after waitlist so are people really getting their appeals approved? Just sayin…

@travis123 I completely agree when I called last Thursday the lady said I would hear by today…I called today and another lady(or perhaps the same) said by Monday NEXT week!
And I also thought appeals were decided after waitlist applicants were dealt with but I could be wrong
What I was thinking too is that since ucla and uci offered waitlist spots some students who sent sir’s to Ucsb may decide to go there, opening up more spaces at Ucsb…but that’s just a glimmer of hope for me

@asb Yes, let’s go with your hypothesis that UCLA & UCI are getting some students out of our way. My mom is bugging me to send in a deposit for housing at SLO but I’m still holding out hope for SB…The only thing that has me a little discouraged is that Ms. Sun’s blog said that SB was over on SRI’s and she seems to be in the know.

@travis
I saw that too, and San Diego was over on their sir’s and didn’t admit anyone so I really hope that is not the case
Being in limbo is the hardest part

Appeals are weird. I know Ucb appeals were released before waitlists
