Waitlisted or rejected...???

I know you've waited several, hectic months to receive a decision notification from the Admissions Committee wanting to learn where you will end up at the end of high school graduation. The decision has come and your not happy with what you have read.
For reassurance, do not feel depressed that Columbia accepted others and not you. Wherever you end up after graduation, it was for the best, not the worst. God has a great plan for everyone, it is just your job to help make his plan work and live up to it with no regrets. So please cheer up, not everyone goes to Columbia let alone Ivy League schools. In my opinion, I believe you should focus on state schools or local colleges, do very, very well and apply to the most prestigious grad, law, or med schools in the nation because post college schools are the determining factor on how successful you may be in your career. Again cheer up, wherever you end up was surely for the best.

Now, here is some incentive for those waitlisted: write a very persuasive letter/essay to Columbia stating why you still genuinley want to attend there institution; re-emphasize the positive impact you would have as an addition to the student population; and reiterate your interests, passions, and the beautiful aspects of what makes Columbia right for you. If the admissions committee cannot find a spot for you later on, once again wherever you end up after graduating high school was surely for the best. God has a great plan for everyone.
In closing, I wish everyone the best in their future endeavors.

waitlisted....1370/740/680/650

o well :-</p>

yea waitlisted legacy (probably just a courtesy waitlist i guess)

1500/760/750/750

any idea how we get off the waitlist?

If enough people don't matriculate, which is very possible, then they rereview us and decide. They say they don't use ranks for the list.

I actually found myself pretty happy after being waitlisted. I had just been rejected from Duke the day before and I am a NC resident, which boosts my chances to 40% RD, so getting flat out rejected made me feel pretty insignificant. Even a waitlist made me feel like I wasn't just a statistic who applied because they sent me stuff about their colleges. I'm glad to know I had a legitimate chance at acceptance at both. And another at CU, my first choice.
