those qualified to guesstimate…(and no, I don’t know what qualifications one should have, just using that word)

roughly how many people will duke take off the waiting list this year???

I have yet to get a call from the admissions office, and I’m wondering if I should give up. In my ‘waitlisted letter’ :(, I was told that they wouldn’t start taking off kids until the middle of May, but so many of my fellow waitlisted on this board have already been admitted that I’m worried Duke has taken everyone they’re going to take. So does anyone have any info…?

I’m not going to lie here. I just had a convesation with an admissions office staff, and the person that I was talking to said that they are already above the class size they predicted. It seems like there are too many people enrolling, and there will not be an offer of admission to any of the waitlisted people.

I’m sure this is a very disappointing news. I’m also waitlisted and I’m very sad right now. The purpose of this message was to inform you so that you keep your expectations very low.

em190: I’m guessing that you mean they won’t make an offer of admission to any other waitlisted people? Because I know they have already let some in (at least according to kids on this board). Thanks for the info, even though it is kind of depressing…

along the lines of skitter, any such comment would have to have been that they won’t be making any more offers because i know people that have already gotten in off of the waitlist. and i’m not referring to people on message boards but in fact good friends of mine that are now accepted and will be going after having been waitlisted initially

I know my year (class of 2011) they accepted off the waitlist, but they accepted too many and we ended up enrolling like 1700 instead of 1600. They might have done the same thing this year.

Senetor Noodles: That’s exactly what’s happening right now.

To all: I’m one hundred percent sure about Pratt. And I assume that same sitiuation applies for Trinity as well. Forget about them. (I know it is depressing)

Hey guys I just want to let all you guys on the waitlist know that I am cheering for you :). I am going to Duke next year and know how much waiting for these college things suck. I consider myself extremely lucky to be in.

Stanford’s taking 80 WLers next week. Princeton went to their waitlist just a few days ago. Duke would have to be firmly overenrolled to shut down this early. I dunno…

em190 is absolutely making this up…on 5/6, (s)he posted that the waitlist will not be used and that (s)he found this out by calling the office. then, on 5/7, (s)he started a thread asking if anyone knew any information about the waitlist or what percent of students on it would be accepted - - > NICE TRY EM190.

Sophia, you are too impatient to get your facts straight or a moron. Either way, fix that please.
Emo started that thread on 4/7/09. you just replied a month late.
