Waitlisted T-T

Silent here too.
This is killing me so much.
Goodbye dream school! :/

When are they going to announce the new “wave” of people who get off the waitlist?
Did they say anything more than “We will let you know in a couple of weeks.”?

Oh! I don’t know if this was already asked, but does anyone know if Mount Holyoke is need blind for waitlisted students living in the United States?

I don’t think MoHo is need-blind for anyone…
I might be wrong but that’s what I remember.

Back in October 2009 when I attended a meeting at a MHC on campus Shadow Day by the admissions director, she confirmed what she said in May 2009 at a Sisters Colleges reception in New York City that MHC is “need aware” in its admissions decisions. The MHC website says “Moreover, our financial aid packages completely cover institutionally determined eligibility.” So MHC is not need blind, like, say Columbia University, and it appears that MHC will take an applicant’s financial aid status into account in its admissions decision. Good luck xperfect. But, as it is almost July, it is no longer likely that the waitlist at any top-ranked college will be used at this point to get new students for the fall. Withdrawing any financial aid request at this time will likely not help a wait list status at any college. Also, any college will ask why a financial aid request was withdrawn at this point – what has changed in your financial status?

Sigh…MHC is need-blind for the majority of applicants. Need-aware becomes a factor only when considering “those students who fall at the margin of the admitted applicant pool”
Because MHC isn’t entirely need-blind, they can’t claim to be so.

Any news?
I haven’t received any more emails about the waitlist.
Is it going to stay open throughout the summer?

On the MHC Facebook page, someone wrote on July 1:

“I work in the Office of Admission and would just like to pass along our appreciation for the patience of our wait listed students. We are currently in the process of finalizing our class, and plan to be in touch with all wait listed students by mid-July. I hope that helps.
Best wishes”

Thank you ConcerndDad. I don’t have any hopes at all, but would like all this to be officially over. Just to put an end to it.

I agree.
I was waitlisted to four schools! Four!
Mount Holyoke was and still is my top choice. It’s also the only school that didn’t close its waitlist yet. Haha.
I’m praying for all of us!

xperfectionistx, that’s funny, I was waitlisted by four schools as well. Reed Grinnell MHC and Wash U St Louis. All the same here, I will reapply next year.

For me, it was: Binghamton University (State University of New York), Hamilton College, Smith College, and Mount Holyoke College.
The first school surprised me, but whatever! :P

WAITLIST CLOSED.
The letter was dated July 2, 2010 and postmarked July 8, 2010.
