Waitlisted?

Hi,

We still haven't heard from the University yet. We think either he may be denied or waitlisted. Does anyone know what the chances are for students to get in if they are waitlisted? Does it really take until June 1st (as stated on the website) to hear back?

Also, we applied to a U of O scholarship. Do you know what happens to that if he's waitlisted?

Thanks!

Hi NervousMom-what can i say, we are very disappointed, my son just got the news today that he is wait listed at UofO. We saw it on duck web. From what I can tell by the info page and other posts about 80% of those wait listed get accepted.

I think it is a shame to have to wait until June. My son is now ready to go to his 2nd choice school UMinn, and does not even want to be wait listed. My husband and I put him on to keep his options open.

It’s all because of the Ducks, now everyone wants to go there!

So scheck the duck web page.

My DD was also waitlisted. She fully met their GPA and course requirements and ACT scores were competitive. She had great references and a well-written essay. She applied pre-business. We live in CA and we were told they accepted a fair number of out-of-state students. What gives?

My DD’s status was posted on DuckWeb. She hasn’t received anything in the mail yet.

My son is in the same boat as you guys. He waited in pending status only to be update early this week to waitlist.
Today he got a letter in the mail that recaps what is next. Here are the main points of the letter.

He had to ACCEPT being waitlisted. This needs to be done before Apr 15 to stay in consideration. There is nothing else that should be done or can be done. The letter has a information sheet with the basic Q&A. It says, "At this point in the process, new information will not change your status on the waitlist. Official notification will be sent by June 1, 2012.

The information sheet also lists the results for the last 2 years for people waitlisted. the stats were;

2010
offered waitlist 623
reserved a place on waitlist 306
admission offered 247

2011
offered waitlist 2481
reserved a place on waitlist 1087
admission offered 924

So being on the waitlist and accepting/reserving a place has a pretty good chance of being offered admission.

You also can not apply for housing, financial assistance, or early registration until formally admitted. Housing is prioritized on a first-come basis.
Seems like the longer it takes, the further behind the waitlist kids become.

Please let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions or answers.

I know the university states that the “official deadline” is June 1st to notify, but do they ever tell students before then? Any chance of rolling admissions off the wait list?

Hi all-so I am hoping that by the 15th things start moving on the wait list -it could entail checking duck web to see-but that was the date 2011 students started posting they had news from UO.

There is a thread ‘2012 going off the wait list’ so be sure to check that and post if you hear any news.

Not sure what S is going to do-he is thinking another school right now-guess we will know more if he sticks to that once we hear.

Good luck all!

Wow checked duck web today-Decision Made-admission offered!! Woo hoo what a long wait it had been! Good luck all

Excellent, AKMum2! Sounds like you son will have at least two great options with UMinn and UO. Glad the waitlist watch is over for you. :)

Thank you rent-we are very happy. He chose UO so we will let UMinn know.

I’ll be heading up to UO in a few weeks to see my daughter graduate. It has been a great experience for her. I will always feel grateful for the fantastic opportunities she’s had at UO.

My son received his letter in the mail yesterday offering admission. Great day, very exciting. The letter is dated May 10 so a bunch must have gone out on Friday. Keep looking and good luck all.
