I got a letter a couple of days ago saying that I was waitlisted at the University of Miami. How often do people who are waitlisted get into the school?

I got into 3 schools off of a waitlist out of 4.... the best thing you can do is visit the school and talk to an admissions counselor. I cannot stress that enough.

Typically, however the statistic is around 20% of waitlists get in and it really depends on the schools your waitlisted at.

at UGA 700 out of 1000 waitlisted students were offered acceptance. But UGA has like 70 percent acceptance anyways..

most publics are easy to get into off the waitlists but privates are another thing. I think you might have a decent shot at Umiami..if you can visit them and talk to your regional director of admissions.. express how much u go there and write him a letter. The schools i visited, where i got in, collected my social security number when they seemed interested in me. if they collect your number you have a good shot.

You may want to send them additional materials to let them know that you are still very interested in their school... that would help your chances.

what additional materials do you suggest i send? I mean i did pretty well first and second quarter but kind of screwed up my midterms? other than a report card....? It's also kind of hard for me to visit them since I live in New York

what were ur stats?

3.2 GPA, 1150 SAT, 26 ACT, one of top high school's in NY, I have had a job as assistant manager for 2 years, volunteered for over 200 hours... anything else?

anyone????

ideas??????

coooooooool

not all publics are easy to get into. uva is pretty tough to get in after waitlist. btw, does waitlist includes deferred applicants from ED?
