I check my phone every hour for voice mail at school…then come home to check my answering machine…and then wait for the call with the phone close by till night…Am I going to go crazy? But I’m still believing that something nice will come!!

so for those of you who already received a phone call, have you received an email or an official letter, yet?

I got the call, but did not get any physical acceptance letter in mail nor did I get an email.

I got the call a couple of days ago from my counselor. She said that a letter should arrive some time this week, so I’m willing to assume that no one else has received a letter yet either.

congrats samuelclemens!

whoa i didn’t see everyone else. congrats everyone!

S pulled himself off U of C Waitlist yesterday after receiving an offer from his other top choice, an LAC. Having gone through both the ED deferred then rejected ordeal from an Ivy and then this WL business, I wish everybody here great luck in getting in to the school of their choice. See you in 3 years…

My S was called Monday evening, but he has not received his admissions materials yet. I think the delay may relate to FA determination. When my S got the call he was told something was missing from our FA application and that a letter would not be sent until our FA application was complete. I faxed the missing tax return Tuesday morning.

It’s only the 4th day, and why do I feel like everything is over?

I know they say waitlists can run till the end of June right? but when do waitlists normally stop activity? End of may? When do you think waitlists in general will stop this year?

OK so Chicago has chosen to not take me off the waitlist, but after my several months of updates and a letter of interest + e-mail of interest, my Chicago admissions counselor finally sends me an e-mail that basically says, “Thank you for your continued interest in Chicago. We hope your senior year has been going well.”

What is that supposed to mean???

It’s, what, the third day since waitlists have started to be taken off the list. I sent in my app on Oct 25th, and the suspense is just killer. I would rather have them being blunt and say, “Sorry. We’re not taking any more waitlistees this year. Good luck wherever you go.”

It sucks to not know with certainty where you’re gonna be headed in the future. And trust me, I will be happy at Michigan!

ab2013,

I seriously feel so bad for you!!! I really want you to find out either way, I don’t know why they would send you that e-mail if not to foreshadow an acceptance, but I guess they might just be acknowledging the updates you sent. The wait list hasn’t closed yet so good luck! I really hope you get in.

Has anyone received a letter yet?

Not yet, although my admissions coulseour emailed me today to let me know my online account has switched over. I can now view housing info and stuff. The letter is dated yesterday, so hopefully I’ll get it tommorow. I get to go visit next Wednesday. :)

I really hope you get in, AB. If not, I’ll stage a hunger strike on your behalf, k? :)

I got my letter yesterday :)

Anyone think they’ll keep taking applicants to the end of June?

I’d really like to go to Chicago but it ain’t looking too good as of the moment (great that just reminded me of the E/M AP tomorrow OH DEAR GOD EPIC FAIL)…

ahh this is so depressing. have the waitlist stopped being active already:( ahh cant bear to think about it. Im an international so i have no idea whats gonna happen at all. just know im waitlisted and ive accepted a spot on it. can anyone enlighten me about it? phone email or what so i can obsessively check the relevant medium. man… the wait is killing me :'(

bristolstomp, editor50-- congrats to your children!

everybody else-- I have no idea what’s going on in the admissions office, but I’m pretty sure panicking and frantically contacting them doesn’t help. I’m sure that a lot of students are in the process of wiggling around from waitlist to waitlist, and school to school.

so i’ve heard two different pieces of information:

1) according to an admitted student, there was this admissions blog stating that there will probably be 200-300 students that will be cleared from the approximately 1,000-student-large waitlist. (don’t you think the odds are a bit too good?)

2) my college counselor told me that the dean e-mailed her last friday telling her that the university received eight more deposits than they had expected. as in, they expected 1,300 but received 1,308 deposits instead. so, that’s not good. but then i’m wondering why people received calls the week of may 4. maybe they’re closing the waitlist soon? =/

i guess the only thing we can do now is to wait. good luck everyone!

I know someone who just got off the waitlist yesterday (May 12) so don’t lose hope, guys.

Hey guys! I’m back … my APs are finally over and I’m free! (almost … but not quite :D)

^That’s good to know … I still have hope! But I did tell my English teacher (who wrote one of the recs for me) who told me that message probably really meant, Sorry, you really didn’t get in.

On the other hand,

that may have just answered my question.

So to lose hope or to not lose hope? To be or not to be?

Aaah the suspense is so killer that I’m imitating Shakespeare.
