well, at least they’re using the waitlist this year…does anyone know if notifications are given out all on the same day? or spread out

They’re usually spread out as they evaluate the candidates.

How many do you think they would admit, based on past statistics?

Umm…let’s ignore last year, since that just makes me want to cry ;)

As for 2012, I know they accepted a decent amount (someone else prolly has more exact numbers), but I don’t know what the ratios were like for the SEAS WL compared to the CC WL.

Hahaha check this: [How To Sneak Into The Ivy League, Or Why Columbia Is Not As Selective As You Think It Is > 3/2, Barnard, Columbia, general studies, ivygate guide to admissions, Jewish Theological Seminary, SEAS, transferring | IvyGate](http://www.ivygateblog.com/2009/01/how-to-sneak-into-columbia/)

It’s from last year…but still read it :)

haha man, wish i knew this BEFORE the application deadlines had passed ;)

I applied to CC.

Here’s the email:

We are eager to have you join us next year.

Cool, Congrats. Are you attending? What school had you enrolled in?

aprilchyeee, you better attend!!! take this opportunity with you and run with it!!!

oh wow if the response deadline is may 14, it is not looking good for those of us who have not been notified :(

What do you mean?

yup. stupefy we’re screwed. btw did u get off the duke waitlist ? or any of the other ones you were on?

I’m sure that the deadline on May 14th is just the window period they’ve given me to reply. They’ll probably have a second wave of acceptances, cuz that’s what’s Princeton’s doing (where I’ve also been waitlisted). Thanks for the congrats, guys. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna take it… so not going to NYU.

I can see where stupefy is coming from, but I think/hope that what it means is just that they’re giving a week to respond in order to see if the waitlistee will accept, so that if necessary they can move on to the next candidate.

edit: lol, aprilchyeeee, took the words right out of my mouth :)

I think the letter said :

“If places in the class do become available, we typically notify candidates no earlier than May 15th and no later than July 1st”

So, the window is May 15th to July 1st. I guess they just decided to notify some applicants earlier.

but clearly, they’ve already notified people BEFORE May 15th (as noted, exactly a week earlier than that date)…that being said, they might end notifications earlier as well…

I agree with cio1183.

You guys, we need a Facebook group for the Wait-List students! I just saw one for Princeton for last year.

nope…not yet anyway
didn’t know duke waitlist was already taking people off?

Yuppp my friend got in off Trinity wl and is going :)

Does Columbia only release acceptances and keep all the rejections until the deadline?
In other words, I have not heard from Columbia, does it mean that I’m rejected or simply they have not reviewed my case?
