Waitlisters!

Have any of you heard from your admissions reps if ND is going to go deep into the waitlist this year?

just try to find out what the yield is after May 1st, it was 57% last year but with a bad economy it will drop.

bump please

Well we need to keep in mind that they accepted around 300 more students this year. And I haven’t been able to find out how many were accepted off the waitlist last year, but apparently it should be a similar amount.

The university placed 787 applicant(s) on its wait list. 98 wait-listed applicants were admitted to the semester for which they applied.

I don’t know if this applies to just Mendoza or Notre Dame as a whole, but according to Business Week’s undergraduate rankings, 98 of 787 waitlisted applicants were accepted last year.

My guess is based on the numbers and the fact that Mendoza doesn’t accept transfers, the number is for all of Notre Dame.

So if the same number will be accepted, that is ~100 acceptances out of the ~700 applicants expected to stay on the waitlist. 14.3%

That’s for 2006-2007, though. I’ll keep looking for 2007-2008.

If we are taken off the waitlist, will we be at a disadvantage with regard to dorm housing or course availability?

no…if you are accepted off the waitlist, there is no disadvantage (other than the time that you can shadow a student - only for admitted students or doing particular research on ND). dorms are completely random and everyone takes first year studies so there is no disadvantage.

When will ND start contacting the Waitlisters? and by what method…phone, email ,mail?

ND will not have an idea as to who is coming until after the May 1st deadline. Last year I believe they started contacting the waitlisters around May 15th by phone. Hang tight as it can be a long wait and process. My daughter was accepted June 5th, 2007. My thought is that they will go deep into the wait list due to the economy. Let ND know you want to attend and will accept their offer if accepted. I wish all of you the best of luck during this very nerve wracking process!
