Waitlists

Does anyone know how the waitlist at cornell works? Is there a priority waitlist, etc? And I have a feeling they rank theirs. I'm just trying to gauge my chances of getting off the list :(

Also, do people who get off the waitlist have last pick of the dorms, classes, and everything else basically?

You should have a decision by May 1. Based on what I read, all you can do is…wait.

wait until may 1st

Not a lot of hope…I got wait listed too :(

According to 2008 common data 3,444 were wait listed last year and only 44 were admitted. Long odds at best.

^^^^^^
that sucks 1.3%chance to get off waitlist worse than Harvard :(

ahhh wiatilisted for CoE…

A tangential question:

How many waitlistees (is that a word?) are offered the Transfer Option? From the letter my son received, it sounds as if the Transfer Option kids are at the top of the waitlist … but of course we don’t know how many there are.

Mmmh, that would be interesting to know…

I heard that there are overall about 150 GTer’s, but that is everyone from everyschool. So not that many.

aahhhhhhhh

Does anyone know if internationals have a lower priority when it comes to getting off the waitlist?

just wrote my letter of continued interest ahhhhhhhhhh

I was waitlisted (CALS AEM) last year and was given a transfer option (aka Guaranteed Transfer) just a day before the 4th of July week-end. I read somewhere they took between 10-20 off the waitlist last year including GT (not sure how authentic the info was). But there have been years when they took off lots more. Last year was very tough, hopefully it will be much better this year, it usually is. The waitlist processing can drag right into mid summer. Good luck to all the waitlistees (I like the word!!).

Last year there was at least one other person who went off the waitlist and was given GT the exact day I was.

cnp55 - You can not be waitlisted and given a GT at the same time. You can be waitlisted and later given a GT (at which point you come off the waitlist). If you are given a GT, then if you meet the GT requirements, you are in next Fall (or Spring in some cases).

SouthernAlps … I would assume this may vary by school, along with the GPA and grades required. It could also vary between the 2013 and 2014 classes. But don’t tell me I’m wrong when I’m the one with the letter sitting on my kitchen counter that states “waitlisted with transfer option for Fall 2011.”

I am with cnp my letter also reads that I have a GT IF i dont get off the waitlist, I called the dean and he said the same thing

I never got an official waitlist letter in the mail… Just an online version, where I could fill out whether or not I wanted to remain on the waitlist.

Did I miss something? or do only GT waitlistees get an actual letter?

Also, no news from any waitlisted colleges yet. sigh

@MistiRose. I didn’t get anything in the mail either.
