Anyone hear anything back yet about the waitlist?

I’d be surprised if we started hearing by tomorrow.

May 1st was the last day people had to postmark their decisions to Cornell - but May 1st is a national holiday in some countries (mail = fail), and I’m certain not everyone (internationals or not) did overnight mail.

Also, once all the responses are received by Cornell, there will doubtless be some time to process the accepts against the declines.

Maybe this Friday?

That seems believable… I was just wondering because I thought I saw somewhere that they were going to send us an update around may 1st…

my guess:
May 1- Cornell begins gathers final numbers on enrolling students.
This weekend, the admissions office probably didn’t work, so that means check mail on monday.
monday-wednesday, sort through mail, maybe final numbers late this week. Then another day few days to decide how many to take off and who. Since they’re calling, there won’t be a wait for the mail. So my guess is this weekend or next monday will be the earliest we’ll hear back.

I know a lot of ivys are doing a waitlist review on May 8th and are aiming to let people know by the 10th but I don’t know if Cornell falls into this group.

^ How do you know that?

Many schools, like Duke, Lehigh, Emory…, have already opened their WL. They don’t need to wait until May 1 or later to know if they need to go to WL. Some schools are notifying their top WL candidates before May 1, hoping it would be an easier decision for them to make. My daughter found out before May 4 a few years ago. I thought I saw someone posted to say Cornell is having a very strong response this year. The question is will Cornell go to the WL.

I don’t doubt that a couple of the colleges at Cornell will. The big question is whether or not Arts or Engineering will have to go to the list. Last year neither did.

Anybody want to wager a bet?

What are you good for?

Not much. I obviously didn’t put my money on Mine That Bird.

Where’d you find that?

didn’t last year they take like 17 people? A very small percentage, but still…
But yeah, everywhere I go, it seems like only a few are turning down cornell so i definitely get the sense that they are having a very good turnout this year (probably because they improved their financial aid this year, which is especially helpful in this economy)

^^^^^ It’s actually 44…still a very small number.
Fingers crossed for me from now on…

any word yet?

I got off waiting lis at Davidson two days ago. However didn’t hear anything from either Cornell nor Vanderbilt.

last year cornell college of arts and sciences did NOT go to the waitlist. neither did engineering. 44 people were admitted, but all to other undergrad colleges (hotel school, agriculture school, etc.). let’s hope this year’s different.

If anyone hears from the waitlist, please post and say which school. thx

On the Dartmouth forum, it seems that people are already getting off the waitlist…so I suppose Cornell’s decisions will come soon!

Actually, Dartmouth, Harvard (~85), Princeton (~30), and Penn (a little for summer melt, though currently a few students over) are using their waitlists.

Yale and Columbia most likely will not.

Cornell and Brown? A mystery~ :O

I didn’t apply to Cornell, but I’m still keeping track for some reason (read: Brown’s waitlist).

I called the College of Arts and Sciences a few days ago, and the lady whom I spoke to said they would have to wait till mid-May so they don’t know if they will go onto the waitlist, or they don’t know if they EVEN have to.
