Wake Forest Admissions Regular Decision Fall 2022

Congrats!! Did the merit come with the acceptance at the same time? we haven’t seen anything yet so just wondering

thank you!! no, I was notified of the merit in mid-march after interviews, etc.

Welp. Waitlisted. I guess it’s better than a flat rejection, but Wake was a true target school for her. Can’t help feeling it’s because she’s “too expensive” - our EFC is pretty darn low, and since Wake is a school that meets full need, I imagine they’d rather offer acceptances to as many full-pay students as they can. Can’t know that for sure, of course, but it makes me really sad to think that all of her incredibly hard work throughout high school doesn’t necessarily matter in this college game. If you can’t afford to pay, you’re a less attractive candidate.

This is very false. Wake forest, like many other schools, is need blind.

I have been waitlisted at almost all of my true target schools. If what you are saying had any merit, I would have gotten in as I do not receive any financial aid and would have to pay full price. Your daughter’s waitlist is a reflection of this particularly difficult admissions cycle and the fact that so many more people applied to schools this year. Your daughter is a qualified candidate, but they do not have the space to accept everyone.

Need aware, but they meet 100% need. They are very generous with aid!

Someone asked for Wakes stats, haven’t seen RD specific but 18k applied for 1400spots. The school is need aware, only med school need blind. I’d like to take an opportunity to say Wake gave me an acceptance even though our income would have led me to think I’d be rejected. They were more generous than any of the 10 schools I applied to,and gave merit which was with a letter stating only 3% of students received. Very grateful for the school, was unexpected and lastly hope everyone loves the school they attend,it’s been a difficult application cycle.

Hope it isn’t too late to respond

Waitlisted at Emory too

I’m sorry, I feel like the waitlist is the worst outcome. Good luck - but remember you will end up where you are meant to be.

Same with my son. After he was deferred and then rejected from Santa Clara and outright rejected from UNC (that one we expected), we really assumed he’d be denied. However, he doesn’t seem at all interested at this point. I’ve been pushing hard for Wake tho. I love the school.

Waitlisted with a ton of demonstrated interest. If you know anyone who was accepted to Wake and is not interested, please encourage them to withdraw to help other deserving kids! You will be giving a gift to another student. Spread the word!

I would 2nd the request for those who have been accepted but don’t plan to attend: PLEASE let the university know if you or those you know intend to withdraw. Many of us on the waitlist who have demonstrated that Wake is in fact our 1st choice, regardless of the odds, are still hoping for some good news.

My son still has not heard back on the RD. Regional told the school that they are still going through the intial run (accept/axe/waitlist). Some classmates have gotten in, some rejected, some waitlisted, some no info yet.

Sorry to hear that. Very odd that your son has not heard from Wake since acceptances must be submitted by May 1. I would suggest a phone call to Admissions to make sure everything is ok with his portal.
