Does anyone know about Wake’s Computer Science program. Debating between Case Western Reserve and Wake Forest. But looking at Wake’s CS Departments website, not really impressed and I don’t think its rated/ranked very highly whereas Case’s CS Program looks very good and rated good. I think overall Wake is better school but not for CS. Anyone have any experience or thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks. I scrolled up and saw you visted CWR, among a lot of other schools. No, I’ve looked extensively at CWR CS program. Although not top of the list, still rated good and the curriculum is excellent. Wake doesnt seem up to par, at least against CWR and its rated a good 25+ lower in rankings for CS than CWR. But wondering if its best to go to the better school (Wake) or the better program (CWR) at a slightly less ranked school. 28 Wake vs 42 CWR. I’ve even seen other student’s reviews across the net of Wake’s CS program where they don’t give it good grades. Hoping someone here might also have insight. Right now my choice is between Wake and CWR.
So what were your thoughts on CWR overall after your visit?
So we thought we would might get murdered until we pulled into the school. Were super impressed with the school and what it had to offer. Freshman dorms were so so. On the tour you go through campus and come out into an area you can’t believe exists there with lots of great restaurants and shops. There seemed be tons of medical facilities and other research opportunities in the immediate area. Also there were lots of things related to arts and culture. It’s a D3 school which my daughters weren’t too excited about, but it was kinda cool that the upperclassmen dorms were literally right off the side of the football field. It’s just a place you really need to experience.
I’ll check out the Wake Fact Book and see if I can find anything and ask in the parents group. I think you will either love CWRU or hate it. There are definitely a lot of impressive things about the school.

LOL. I did see that the crime rating was very high/low ? compared to all schools. thanks for the heads up on that. and thanks for the Wake CS detective work. 
And to followup - Why Wake?
Depending on the assessment of the CS dept. we plan on visiting in late April right before decision date.
I have one going to NWU and other Wake. Wake wasn’t even on her radar as far as I know until she spoke to the admissions guy that came to visit the private school she goes to. We added it to the list, and while we were on campus she said to me that she knew Wake was her home. It was at the end of the 12 days or so that we went on that big road trip and visited all those schools so she had a good feel for what she wanted. She applied ED, got in right before Christmas and that was the end of her college application journey. Thank goodness!
Were merit scholarships released in the aid sent out?
They are determined this month and given out in April.
Did you see the financial aid sent out tonight? It wasn’t supposed to be with that… right?
We were accepted ED and it says in the portal that Merit and talent based scholarships are decided in March and given out in April. Only normal FA should be available now.
Thanks haha! Mine says that too but it said also said FA wouldn’t be available until early April. Hoping they haven’t released scholarships because if this is all I get I won’t be able to attend and I really like this school!
Anyone know what the acceptance rate was this year?
Just looked at Aid Pkg. They are not making this decision easy! oh my. bless them.

got no aid :’( I really want to go to wake but its hard to make it economically feasible at full cost

No merit aid given in financial aid package and I don’t qualify for any financial aid. Did anyone receive any merit aid? Very disappointed!
