Wake Forest Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

I don’t trust them anymore. Believe me. We did the NPC for all schools and the packages we actually got are so different in most cases. And different from one another, I might add. Some in a super good way, others in a ridiculously “what were they thinking” way. So we’ll have to wait and see, there is no other option. Do you know when the FA packages for Wake will be out, BTW?

For accepted students it was like a day or two after. In our ED portal is says early April FA decisions on RD. Not sure how it would would work for WL. The Merit scholarships are to be decided this month and released in April.

Personally, I am waiting for my FA package. If it is affordable I’d go in a heartbeat. If it’s unaffordable for my family, it isn’t realistic. I imagine many are waiting for the same info before making a decision.

My D is still waiting for a few more decisions before she makes a decision.

Rumor at my high school is that schools are waitlisting so many people because they didn’t have enough time to get through all of the application, similar to what UMich is rumored to do with their EA applicants. What do you all think about this? I think that it makes logical sense, but it seems a little shady that universities didn’t just push back their release dates

Did anyone have issue when setting up wfu email account? I keep trying to log into mine but it says my password is incorrect. I know it’s not bc I literally just set the password

Never mind I figured it out

Make sure you turn on 2-step verification and add a recovery email just in case.

That’s an interesting theory and could be in part true. My theory is that because students are applying to more schools than usual, their admission offer acceptance rate will be lower, so they have a longer wait list to pull from. So it could also partly be this reason.

@wakehopeful significantly more applications + no increase in admissions‘ staffing = work around

How do you know there was a 40% increase?

@CCollegeU I don‘t. It was an example of another school. Most had a dramatic increase in applications for which admissions were underprepared.

I think the decision to not do waitlist tours is shortsighted. We flew across the country & plan to drive by Wake today, but doubtful we can get the campus vibe from outside the gates. Frustrating.

Park at Reynolda Village and you can take a short, beautiful walk to campus via the trail. Less than 1/2 mile. If I were a student at Wake, I would walk from campus to get a doughnut at the cool doughnut shop every weekend. Hard to beat. Did that two weekends ago when visiting and ran into the Provost sitting outside enjoying some coffee. BTW the art museum and Reynolda House self guided tour are very cool. Good local history if you like that type of thing (I do).

So I haven’t read all of this but is Wake offering tours to accepted students?

Yes.

If you are in Winston Salem, try to get on campus through the gates. If they will not let you in, go to Reynolda Village and park by the Village Tavern restaurant or Penny Path Crepe Shop. There is a practice soccer field there and walk over the field and there is a small waterfall there. Walk up the hill and that is the Reynolda Trail and walk on the trail and that will take you to campus. Beautiful walk and is about 1/4 mile. At the end of the trail, the Bynum Welcome Center is to your left, to your right are the campus buildings. Enjoy the campus!

I agree. I think that this year yield rates will be especially low since students applied to so many schools, so we all might have a better chance at getting off of the waitlist.

Thanks for the tips! We will park at Reynolda and walk from there. Based on what my D sees today, she’ll decide whether to stay on the waitlist or not.
