I'm in the process of applying to Wake Forest ED for the Class of 2017, and I just recieved my SAT II scores. I got a 780 Math II, 700 US History, and 590 Literature. Since I cannot split the scores, and I don't have time to retake them, should I report the scores or should I hold the scores back. I plan to report my SAT (1970/1350) or my ACT (30) but I'm very unsure about whether to submit my SAT IIs. I'm pleased with the Math II and my US History, but I'm concerned about whether the Lit would hurt me and if so how much. Could I get some advice either from a prospective student or a current student?

Thank you so much and Go Deacs!

I would just go ahead and report them. I never took any SAT IIs and still attend Wake, so I’m not even sure they’re required. Its really up to you. I don’t think it’ll hurt you if you chose not to report them.

They are definitely completely optional. Which is one reason I love WFU, but I still don’t know whether they would hold the scores to a higher standard since they are test-optional.

My d. is incoming class of 2016 and opted to not report ANY of her scores (SAT II were decent)…the admissions counselor gave her this advise : “If you feel they are a true representation of your abilities, then report them. If they are not representative of what your academic skills are, then don’t report them. If they are on the application, they will be considered in your admission.”

I agree with @katdan2003. There is no real set score that will help or hurt you, so it is truly up to you. I sent mine because I felt that they would really help me and were a better representation of my intelligence than my GPA, as I sort of slacked a bit in high school. My GPA was a big factor in deciding to send my scores. Maybe you can consider this as well while making your decision.

just curious, what were admitted students scores like?

@2014: Like I said, I didn’t take the SAT II, but my SAT I was 2160 and my ACT (which I chose to send) was 33.

Sent from my DROID X2 using CC

Actually appearantly the College Board will seperate the scores, so I think I’m going to only send US History and Math II since I think those are the two that represent my true abilities. Thank you so much for your help and hopefully I can get into WFU next year! As a side note, does anyone know when the 2013 application comes out? The WFU admissions page says, “Applications currently in process and not submitted by July 1 will migrate to the 2013 application and become available after July 2. Essays and short answer responses will not migrate.” But I assumed that meant that it would come out last night at midnight, but it didn’t… Did I just misread that?

Well apperantly after that last post they changed the application This is exciting! Go Deacs! Good luck to all!

Good luck sebastianivory!

Thank you! Already started my ED application so hopefully this all goes smoothly! Hoping to get it all in by midaugust since it’s rolling ED

@2014nhs, I got accepted into Wake Forest and my SAT scores were on the common application I filled out during the 2011-2012 school year and they were not good. (A 1770, CR: 630, M: 550, W:590 Essay: 8) Yet, I still reported them, and still got accepted. Albeit, I’m pretty sure my IB classes and AP classes helped along with being ranked in the top 6% of class. However, that just goes to show that even with pretty low SAT’s one can get in to Wake as long as you try to express yourself through your essay and have a great academic transcript. I also didn’t have one of Wake Forest’s “recommended interviews” when I applied, it turns out the Interview Contact sheet had been in my spam box the whole time lol.

Well I decided to submit my Math II (780), US History (700) and my top two SATs: 670 CR, 640 M, 540 W and 590 CR, 680 M, 620 W. Which as I said above superscored to 1970 and 1350. Hopefully this all works out well! My class rank is pretty close to your’s @Smileforcma, I’m 20/352 and I will have taken 11 APs by the end of Senior Year. I submitted my 4 from Junior Year, which were a 5 in AP English Language and 4s in APUSH, Comparative Government, and Statistics. Planning to submit my app by the end of the weekend! Just doing my final read through.
