okay, so i have been told by the Penn gymnastics coach that i would be a walk on gymnast on their team if i go to Penn. i have applied regular, does this mean i wont get his backing in admissions and i have to get in on my own?
or does he still have pull in admissions since he expressed a lot of interest in me?
would it be best for me to just email and ask orrrr…?
@Ringer01
Get in contact with him ASAP because I’m pretty sure he can write up a list of walk-ons and rank them in order. At least that’s how it works for some other sports at Penn, I’ve heard.
It can’t hurt to communicate with them.
It may be that even if he is not backing your application, he can let them know that you are likely to make the team. That may help more than being someone who was into HS gymnastics.
@vibrantviolet alright I will. Thank you!
@Ringer01 Yeah no problem! Hope to see you at Penn next year!?
If he says you can make it as a walk-on, then that’s clear language that he will not be supporting your admissions. That’s a very limited resource and while he expects you to be able to contribute to the team, he’s got to be strategic about whom he can assist.
@T26E4 @vibrantviolet It is so not clear if the list exits? I have a son who is in the same boat. Ugh it’s so confusing
