Hi, I’m interested in doing UC Essay prompt #6, which asks “Think about an academic subject that inspires you. Describe how you have furthered this interest inside and/or outside of the classroom.”
However, I want to write about my class called Technology Lab, which is basically about electrical engineering. This class pretty much inspired me to choose electrical engineering as a major. The thing is, tech lab doesn’t count as an “academic subject” that is asked for from the prompt.
How about if you make the academic subject Physics, and include the Tech Lab class as one of the areas you focus on?
But I would be very careful. It would be really easy to get caught up in how wonderful the class was— and to lose the focus on YOU. Remember, the point is to give colleges a reason to say yes to your application. Don’t waste a single word on stuff that builds up a class or your high school-- this is about YOUR activities, your inspiration to learn more about a subject.
