Hi, I’ve been making some decisions on where I want to head to after I get my 2 year degree at my current CUNY school. However, I realized I made a poor choice by attending the school I currently am enrolled in, so I was planning on transferring after a year to another CUNY. The idea came to mind that a SUNY can bring me new experiences, and I feel like it would help me focus on studying without any distractions from my parents, or people within my neighborhood.
I did poorly in High School, my GPA was a 70% all four years, I could’ve done better but I was ignorant and told myself I would just work hard in community college. Right now I’m attending a school that has 2 year and 4 year programs, but I wouldn’t say it’s the greatest compared to other colleges. It just feels weird here and right now I’m working as hard as I can in order to get to where I want.
I’ll admit, things are a bit challenging but I’m doing whatever I can to work for the grade I want. However, I’m not sure if I can get in a SUNY school. My top choices are Bing, UAlbany, Buffalo or Stony Brook. I really want to get out of my current school, and work on my degree in a steady curriculum. But I don’t want to wait any longer to be honest, by the end of this semester, assuming I’ve passed everything with a good GPA I’ll have 12 credits.
The policy is, if we have less than 24 credits then our GPA from High School will be reviewed when applying as a transfer.
Now, remember I said I did poorly in High School? Let’s not even talk about SATs…
What are my chances of getting into a school like UAlbany with a good college GPA (12 credits) but a horrible GPA from High School? Will they take into account the drastic improvement from High School to college?
