Hi. For the first two years I remembered to fill in the form and fax it to USC that my kid had full insurance. Last year I forgot to do it and found a charge for something like $800 for a Aetna policy which my kid did not need and never used.
This year I contacted the university and they no longer allow faxed forms or in person paper forms from the parents or kid saying they have insurance. I have written many letters to the dept that handles this and they directed me to my oasis and told me where to sign in and fill out a waiver form. HOWEVER, parents are not able to access that portion of the Oasis site only students. This would not be a big issue except they want lots of information about the parent's actual health plan, parents medical record and policy number etc.
I again inquired about this but they said only students can access this. I do have guest logon.
Make sure you get your child to do it since the deadline is approaching and the email that comes up when you send it in says the computer is slow/down/having problems and probably will not be recieved for over 7 days. The old fax form was so much easier.

Just another way how you can be sent all the bills but not have any input with the school about any particulars.

Hi Futureholds-- I was able to fill out the insurance waiver form for my D using guest access on Oasis. However, I agree, they don’t make this process easy. I had to call our insurance company multiple times and USC to get this straightened out (it took more than 3 weeks for it to get cleared). Luckily, we did get it done in time, but I am glad we started in early July, lol.

I guess I had a fortunate experience. My daughter set up an oasis guest account for me. I logged on and entered all the insurance info. In 5 biz days we got the confirmation that our waiver was approved ( got it today!)

If you have trouble doing it on the guest account, is it that hard to get a password out of you child? I guess I am spoiled. My son has no problem with me having it. Now his FB one, that is another story!

I gave my Mom my password to Oasis so she can access my accounts and she is much better about paying attention to bills, etc. than I am. I can’t imagine a reason I would have anything to hide from her on Oasis. She’s welcome to see my grades, my classes, etc. I actually also gave her my password on my school email account so she can see notices about F/A, etc. I trust her and she trusts me. She opens the emails that are relevent to her and doesn’t touch my personal or teacher emails. That’s what trust is all about.
