is warren's orientation only in September? why is it so late compared to other colleges in UCSD? i mean it's not big of a deal unless it takes away the advantages of enrolling in classes earlier for better scheduling etc. and Warren's orientation doesn't have multiple sessions right? versus other colleges having multiple sessions for the students to choose from.
if the enrollment starts in August but warren's orientation is in September, do warren students get counselings for what classes to take? how?

thank you in advance!

Some colleges just choose to have their orientation in September so students can move into their actual rooms. This also happens if there is enough room in the college to house everyone for orientation - ERC does not have this capability, for example, so it offers both June and Sept. orientations. I’m almost positive Warren only has one session to choose from but someone else can clarify.

Freshmen register for classes in late August via a random registration time that you will be given. It’s all done online. So no, orientation has nothing to do with that.

I believe any academic advising you get before registering will all have to be done online. That IS one drawback - students who get to go in June learn about classes and often have in-person meetings with counselors. But it’s not a huge deal, all the info is online anyway.

Everybody from every college signs up around the same time in August. Times will be given out randomly. So no, you won’t meet an academic adviser face to face but you’ll get an e-mail from them with their recommendations. They’re helpful, and of course you can always e-mail them if you have questions or ask us on here. I wouldn’t mind helping you with your classes if you wanted an opinion. The good thing about it though is that if you live far away (like I do) you move in at orientation and then school starts in a week so you don’t have to come here, go back home, and then come here again.

Sometime before you actually register for your classes, the warren orientation site will list recommended classes for you (basically they’re off the 4 year plan for your major). But you can still ask them questions at that time and they’re pretty quick to answer. September orientation is pretty wonderful though. Last year we moved in on September 17th or so? We were basically the only students on campus along with sixth college and early-move in students but you get to know your suitemates right away!
