2) My AP English teacher who graduated from Stanford wrote me one. We are close.
3) I also got a letter of recommendation from Citibank. My supervisor went to an Ivy League graduate school, and wants me to work for Citi when I graduate and during the summers in college.

Good chances everywhere. What was your score in each section on the ACT?

English- 31, Mathematics- 34, Reading- 28, Science- 33 Writing- 10

Bump!

id guess a good shot everywhere except BC and Brown are your Reaches

Wow, would BC really be a reach!?

I think you have really good chances at GW, Colgate and Villanova.

Guessing you are NiraliMag’s brother?

haha lol yes I am. ( He is laughing over my shoulder haha)

Do you think I have a good chance!!!? Bump! I am so much better than he is haha

I think you have a zero chance at every college, community college might take you though.

I believe that Union is a very good fit for you concerning your academic scores. However, your volunteer time is really impressive. All of these schools should not be out of your reach due to AP. Also, your ethnicity is a good fit at Union, a school that has been criticized in the past for “diversity issues”. But, you should try them all. I would even consider ED’ing at Union. My cousin visited Union and he was very impressed with the college and its liberal arts background (eventually went to UNC due to in-state).

you have strong EC’s and a boat load of community service which looks good. If your counselor can explain the whole GPA thing you shold be fine!

Thank you for your wonderful insight sowhawk91, I would too believe that Union is a great school ( it is on my list). The ONLY problem is that it is a little close to home, and I am scared about the financial aid i will be getting from them. My Brother (NiraliMag) basically needs like 25K/year to go to NYU Stern, so that is why I think Middlebury is a good option for me. Also, College Board says they meet 100% of need so that is excellent. But don’t get me wrong, Union is pretty good, just not my top choice.

How can you ED NYU needing that much aid? It’s highly unlikely you’ll get it as Stern is a reach for you. Doable if you could pay full, but much too big a risk needing lots of aid. And pseudo doesn’t work in the arena of legacy, cousins do nothing for you.

Is Stern really a reach for me? Even with ED? But anyways, I don’t have a real problem with FA because my brother is getting money from a trust fund we started a long time ago, and I am just going to have my parents pay for me whatever Stern gives me. I just didn’t want to put the burden on my parents to pay, but they will for me.

Your GPA and rank are low for nearly all the schools you’re applying to. BC, Middlebury, Amherst, and Brown are definitely reaches.

Well I have to disagree, although I appreciate your insight ca87. My counselor says he will put on my application next year that my Rank is UW, and that otherwise my rank would be top 10% if they weighted it, so that should not be a problem. There is a really unfair system at our school, and even our counselor thinks so. I agree my GPA is low, but I challenge myself, and it will be up to a 3.5/3.6 by the end of Junior year. Thank you

You’ve got an excellent shot at all of the schools except for Brown really. I think you can get in to BC if you can explain the GPA, and normally NYU would be somewhat of a reach too, but I think the legacy helps. Good luck!

Stern might be a bit of a reach, as well as BC, and Amherst is pretty crazy–but otherwise your ECs are good enough to most likely get you into most of those schools. :)

Maybe I should not ED1 to NYU Stern, and try for CAS instead. How is NYU’s economics program? It is probably good since their business programs are too obviously. I should probably change that to NYU CAS ED1 then most likely.

What about Middlebury ED? I am a reject for that too?

I think you’d be a reasonable bet for NYU if you are full pay. The rank is an issue and it would be helpful to look at scattergrams if your school has them.

What you need to do is research if NYU practices admit/deny–that they will admit a student despite financial need and just not give him the aid most of the time, or whether they reject most who they can’t fund.

While I know NYU does admit many they don’t fund, you may run the risk of getting rejected if you ask for lots of aid you don’t really need.

Amherst is a huge reach.
