Washington Univ. St. Louis BS/MD program

Any thoughts on this program? When do we hear?

The problem with this program is that it's not a program at all. If you fulfill the requirements, and get the 3.8/36, you could get into a really, really good med school anyway. Probably even Wash U's med school. So what's the point? I'd only do it if I would have gone to Wash U without the program. If that's the case, there isn't really a downside, but if not, it's a pointless program.

This goes with WashU's marketing tactics. They'd sometime pretend to be/to have something they aren't/they don't have. For example, a HS junior once asked me about "journalism" at WashU. My first reaction was "how did you get the impression that they had a program?". So I went to their website and after some research, I found that all WashU had was just one or two classes related to jounalism and they were offered through the University College (kinda like an extension program); but if you don't read thoroughly, you can be led to think they got an undergrad program.
Another example: the rankings they put out on their website. Most schools list just the overall ranking for, say, medicine--only one number. But WashU would list the ranking for all different specialites just to make the list look a lot longer (instead of one number, you got more than 10 different rankings for "AIDS", "Cell Biology", "Health Services"...etc). Instead of just psychology, they would put "psychology", "clinical psychology", and "cognitive psychology"--3 rankings for 1 department! It's very very informative, I guess.
WashU isn't interested in giving the benefits most other combined programs give; it's created just so they can say they have a "program".

If you are called for an interview.. plse post your stats... i just got rejected...

I agree with Sam Lee

I applied to Wash U's program before I realized it wasn't really a program after all. Needless to say, I got rejected. But I'm happy at NU's HPME.

neom3x11

have you been accepted? I am waiting since the interview early March? Shud i call them?

neom3x11... i meant nwu's hpme program!

I'm currently an undergrad freshman in HPME

no don't call them. just wait.

thank you, neom... i will keep my fingers crossed.. that's my first choice...

Hi,

I’m really interested in the Northwestern BS/MD (mainly because I just figured out the WUSTL program is BS) and wanted to know some of you stats and what they really liked about your application. It would also help if you could tell me a little about student life there (workload, dorms, etc.). This would really help me know what I need to shoot for to get into the program.

Thank You,

-Absolutely true. And to get 3.8/36 is extremely hard, very few have this high combo. 3.8/36 can apply anywhere with vey good chances of getting accepted, Harvard included.

Fitz needs a cornerback who can stop the long ball. Illinois, Michigan, Iowa and Penn State all have burned Fitz on this weakness. Too bad. It could have been a much brighter season for NU if they had more protection in this area.
