I thought we don’t “request an interview” but instead get “invited”. Right?
…I submitted my application 1 month ago, still haven’t heard about interview. Maybe there is no alumni available in my area?
@allima Well I don’t think it’s necessarily a BAD thing, especially if you showed interest in other ways. But either way, colleges that’ve come to my school always say they understand if you can’t visit.
@RUHTRA999 I’m pretty sure you have to request… that’s what I did. (Although mine was on campus)
Oh also hi everyone, I’m a fellow Wash U applicant XD The school is definitely one of my top 3 out of the 12 i applied to.
@RUHTRA999 I’m from the SF Bay Area, and just got an email inviting me for an alumni interview in SF today. Yours should come soon hopefully!
@mchinn1984 Thanks. I’ve just went to SF Bay area last summer. Awesome place.
I think WashU understands that if you live far away you might not be able to visit. I think it’s also ok not to have an interview. Don’t ignore a specific invitation to interview. As long as you didn’t do that, I think it’s ok. Ex. A group of alums are in your town and you’re notified that interviews are available, but don’t make an appointment, and don’t explain why you can’t attend.
well what if i made an appointment and i am on the waiting list? should i contact them to get off of it? (i need this interview because I haven’t visited!)
Just submitted my last scholarship to WashU at 4:59 central time lol
Applied to WashU RD because I can’t commit to paying the tuition without a guarantee that I would receive a merit scholarship.
I applied to all five scholarships that were on my WashU Pathway.
I have a 4.5 weighted gpa and 31 act but since they superstore which I learned yesterday I sent in my scores (32 E, 35 M, 34 S, 28 R)
EC pretty good and volunteer very good, leadership probably not as good as can be, however heavy AP and ACC course load and I’ve only gotten one B first semester junior year in AP Physics.
Biomedical engineering is my major and I did have a campus tour at WashU, but I didn’t have an interview which I now realize I should’ve.
Do I have good chances? I’ve gotten into a lot of schools already, the most notable- U of I for bioengineering (which is very selective). However, deferred from UMich and Tulane which really surprised me, but I think it was because of their large volume of applicants. I honestly feel they just didn’t get to my application.
Sorry for the long post!
Thanks!
When are the RD results coming out?
@yitian9898 last year was March 10 I think so around then.
that seems so long away…
Which scholarships did you guys apply to?
@tensummers I applied to that one, but it was a very last minute thing. I literally just submitted one of my old sophomore Core Honors in class essays on the Industrial revolution since I didn’t have time to write anything else. I think anything would have been fine, they just want to see your ability to analyze and lay out an argument clearly.
Scholarship notices come before then, though, so for those of us who must win a scholarship in order to attend, that really is the decision day.
I applied to Danforth, Langsdorf, and McKelvey.
I applied to Mylonas and Nemerov. Not expecting anything though. I did them more to show interest anyways.
I applied to Ervin, Rodriguez, Mylonas and the Pre-Med scholars program.
@JemmaSimmons Exactly.
I’m sitting here in my Wash U sweatshirt reading the ED results thread :’(
@143WashU143 what’s your intended major?
I applied to Danforth and Pre-Med scholars program. I was going to apply to Ervin but I forgot to :/. It was more of a way to show interest for me as well, I am really not expecting anything at all.
Yeah, I was going to apply to Ervin and Rodriguez as well, but my efforts to increase diversity in my community are unfortunately weak, so I didn’t think I had a great chance at those.
@JemmaSimmons same reason I didn’t apply to those.
