Washington University in St. Louis

Okay, I got waitlisted at WUSTL. I don’t really want to go there anyways, but I said I wanted to remain on the wait list. Does that mean I HAVE to withdraw whereever I’m going later to go there??? Cause now I’m probably going to BU, but don’t want to end up in St. Louis because I’m forced to…Please help if you have an answer!

well, you only have to withdraw if you're taken off the waitlist. which is why i vowed not to pursue schools that waitlist me, 'coz by may 1st we need to have made a decision at another college (schools don't start taking people off waitlists until after may 1), and pay a deposit at that other school (can cost up to $500). so if wash u decides to take you off the waitlist, you will have spent up to $500 extra in another college.

Also keep in mind that WUSL is notorious for waitlisting nearly everyone it doesn't accept, so getting off the waitlist is a very small chance.

Even if they do take you off the waitlist, I'm pretty sure you have the option of accepting their offer of admission. I was under the impression that there was no harm in remaining on the waitlist to see whether or not things would work out.

oh no, i didnt realize that you had to attend if you chose to stay on the waitlist! i doubt i'll get off, and then again, i dont think i'd mind going there.

er... you DON't have to attend if you chose to stay on the waitlist.

Ok good cause there is no way I'm choosing Missouri over Massachusetts now.
