Is it true that everyone from the East Coast, especially NYC, thinks that everyone from the Midwest lives in a corn field and rides tractors to school? Lol cause that’s what someone told me they thought!

I also have a general question: Will WashU tell us beforehand (like through the pathway or something) which day decisions are coming out like other schools do, or will we just find out when one day we long on to the pathway and there is a decision there?

@ravnzcroft…i said “I think tulane and tufts are my back up schools (but tufts isn’t really a safety)” so i know that it’s not a safety what i meant by back up schools were schools that I want to go to other than wash u. I guess I shouldn’t have called them back ups.

and nina1228 noo! I don’t think you live in a corn field (i mean of course you own one, being from the mid west and all). But whenever I tell someone that I want to go to wash u(and many non-seniors haven’t heard of it) they ask me “why?!” and i have to explain to them that wash u is a top 20 school and that still doesn’t convince them that it’s a good school. And then i have to explain that st louis isn’t a hick town. And no one believes me. sigh.

There is definitely a very strong coastal presence at WUSTL - I’m quite sure that I know more people here from California, Massachusetts, and New York than from the entire midwest (which isn’t really that crazy considering the relative populations). That’s not to say that you can’t meet people from different environments; I know I’ve definitely been questioned about what it’s like to live in Iowa multiple times.

@nina
OMG! you live in Cleveland? I go there all the time for shopping and Indians! Do you know Choo? he is from my country!
I am just wondering… have you ever been to Wash U admission session? I went one at Toledo in September… were you there? (sorry, it’s kinda random, but just curious)

Hey everyone,
I’m counting down to Dec 15 rite now. Do you guys think we will get the result online on the Pathway on Dec 15?
And just to join the discussion, I’m from NY but that’s not my permanent address. Also I love Christopher’s books but I’ll wait until after Dec 15 to read the 4th one haha

So nice you could take a break from adultery (and being the protagonist of one of the most boring books in the world) to talk with us, haha anyways, the decisions will likely be up around the 10th, definitely by the 15th.

No I wasn’t there lol. I have only been to one info session and that one was on the WashU campus over the summer. I actually haven’t been to Toledo too many times. And yes I know who Choo is:)

And I do hope decisions are up by the 10th because that means there is just over a week left (gasp!).

What an uncanny coincidence! I also live in northern Ohio. I’m from Amherst, a suburb of Cleveland, so I guess I’m between you two. I go to Cedar Point all the time and I work in a Cleveland Clinic research lab twice a week, so I’m very familiar with your locales. I applied for early decision and am anxiously waiting for a response. Good luck! Hope to see all of you in the fall!

Hey, everyone, nice to see this thread exploding with comments! Anyway, I thought I’d update you with the first period marking grades ordeal, since you’ve been so helpful with that.

As I said, I called my application processor last week and left a message asking if she could check the status of my grades. Well, she emailed me Monday and said that they HADN’T received them yet! So, of course, I frantically ran (exaggeration) to my counselor’s office to let him know. And, it’s the weirdest thing, but he showed me exactly what he sent, and the grades were sent right along with my transcript. Not on it, but in the exact same fashion. Anyway, I asked that he fax my grades this time to the number my app processor provided me with in the email. I just received an email this morning stating that my grades had been received! SOOOOO glad that’s taken care of. :)

Also, regarding the decisions date…I’m hoping for next week. Steal1115 posted (a while back on this thread) that, last year, the ED decisions came out on Thursday the 9th, and two years ago the decisions came out on Friday the 11th. Well, next week, Thursday is the 8th and Friday is the 9th! We can hope, right?!

That’s good to hear! On my common app it says that WashU downloaded my optional report (first quarter grades) about a month ago, so hopefully I’m good, too!

@MN9001 there are definitely not that many new yorkers and californians, because when my wash u admissions officer came to visit my school she passed around a map and each state had a percentage printed on it (representing the percentage of the wash u student body that comes from that state) and ny and cali were no where close to 40%

anybody from Indiana? I’m guessing not since everyone on this forum has committed to Ohio.

Also I think the 9th would be our best shot at getting them cause its a friday and thats the date they got them last year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I find out before that weekend.

If they do release the decisions Friday, that’s going to be the best (or worst) weekend of my life. I’m probably not going to do any homework either way…I’ll just need to relax. Debrief from the college admissions process. :)

Also, an interesting thing for you guys: in the email I got today from my app processor, she said: “We have received and processed your first marking period grades. They have been reviewed with your file.” I think the key word here is REVIEWED. Could this possibly mean they’ve already made decisions for the applicants, and are just finalizing things? If so, then a December 8th or 9th decision date isn’t implausible at all…it’s likely.

And I’m from Chicago! It’s kind of close to Indiana…I guess.
