WashU Early Decision Class of 2016

From Massachusetts.

cowboy, they can’t review and decide on every ED application on one/two days.

I would expect that they have files grouped by Accept, Defer, Deny and Undecided. At the end of the process the committee is reviewing the Undecided to determine which get added to Accept or Defer group. They probably make the final decisions next week.

I am curious wheter you all checked that you would be applying for financial aid or not.

Yeah I applied for FA:(

I did too :frowning: i’m worried that i won’t get enough

Onecot, I didn’t mean to suggest that…I just got the impression from the email that they’ve already reviewed a lot of the applications, and the reason the first period marking grade deadline was extended was because it was kind of an on the side thing that didn’t matter that much. As in, if your grades were fine, then your app status wouldn’t change, but if they were terrible, then it might. So, I completely agree with your assumption about the filing of the apps.

And you said you’re curious as to whether we checked that we would be applying for FA. Are you asking if some people applied for it but didn’t check it off? Because you had to fill out WUSTL’s own FA form for ED.

wooo!! glad to see everyones posting and done freaking out about applying…sort of. agree about the upenn forum, we gotta get some more bonding going here guys. fav book for me? tough call i loved the Life of Pi. my backup schools are williams and penn. i’ll apply regular if i don’t get into washu.

ps…someone asked earlier if east coasters have ‘farmer-perceptions’ of mid-westerns. i would say that’s pretty accurate no offense. that’s definitely my stereotypical first thought when i hear “midwest”

also onecot59 where in mass are you from? i’m from mass toooo yay.

9 MORE DAYS.

Lol, only on CC are Williams and Penn “back-up” schools:)

And hey, Cleveland is very much an urban place. But drive through the rest of Ohio, and you’ll see that the stereotypes aren’t too far off!

@apitkin12

What is the Life of Pi about? I never heard of it but I may add to the list of books I want to read before I get to college:)

@apitkin12

I totally agree with that stereotype about the midwest. When my sister went to college on the East Coast she told people she lived in Indianapolis and they hadn’t heard of it. One person asked her if it was in Ohio. I can only hope at Wash U that people will be smart enough to figure out that the word Indiana is in Indianapolis.

I believe from a previous post, decisions were already online by Thursday, the 9th (last year) and Thursday, the 10th (two years ago). Official e-mails were sent the next day (Friday) asking students to go on Pathway to check their application decision. So, if this is a continuous trend, I think they’ll already be up by Thursday, the 8th, and we’ll receive an official e-mail on Friday, the 9th.

That’s about one week away…anyone else nervous? :S

I don’t feel that nervous right now, but trust me, when I log onto the Pathway and see that the decisions are posted…I think it’ll take me a good five to ten minutes of preparation to even look.

Are they posted at 5pm CST?

Well, this thread seems to die down no later than 12 or 1am every night, so apparently none of you are TOO anxious yet. ;)

@nina

life of pi is about a kid who travels on a boat with his family to america, but the boat sinks and everyone dies but him and he lives on the boat with a tiger. it’s one of those books where the last couple pages totally made the book awesome. and williams and penn really are my backup schools…

also do we find out through emails? or on pathways

I think the pathway, but I guess anything is possible!

Today was such a busy day, and it’s still not over, but it is always good to take a few minutes to read the post from my fellow EDers. Decisions could come in as few as 7 days, but I am not freaking out yet. I am quite happy. I know I won’t be able to say the same thing come next week, though. I am a little depressed though because my mom keeps trying to convince me that WashU will not be affordable and that I should consider state schools…however I am confident WashU will come through for us!

^ breath, nina. Don’t get depressed. Be prepared for the worst thing but think about the best. You’ll be totally fine.
One of my friends and I are EDing WashU together. If I can make a wish now, I wish both of us will get in. Wish the same thing for you guys.

@ (someone above): Oh thanks for complimenting on my fake name. She’s headstrong :D

I visited Wash U last April. On our way back from dinner, we start hearing sirens. We ask our host what they are for - Tornado warning he says. That is when I knew I was in the midwest.

Also, how come everytime I see something about Sr.Louis on TV they have to show the arch?

Post idea for everyone - your favorite thing about St. Louis when you visited?

@apitkin12 - I am from W. Mass.

@cott i’m from western mass tooo! small world lol

fav part of st louis…i only got to see the campus. the coach kept me pretty booked. i loved the path from campus to the del mar loop. even though the del mar loop was kinda sketchy

The ST. LOUIS CARDINALS, FTW!

While I was on my visit, my parents and I decided to visit downtown and catch a Cardinals game. It was totally worth it. I also like that there are two Metro (the St. Louis subway) stops right on campus. All you have to do is hop on the Metro and it drops you off literally right in front of Busch Stadium.

Forest Park is right across the street and is AMAZING! There is a zoo, museums, and so much more. And practically everything is free!

The St. Louis Cathedral is breathtakingly beautiful and would be a nice place to visit at least once.

I also like the Loop! We ate at Qdoba while we were there. It was yummy (I prefer Qdoba to Chipotle).

And, of course, as a prospective pre-med student Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a huge plus:)

Yeah, my parents and I did not waste a minute while we were there:D

I went to a cardinals game too. I go to colts and pacers games all the time, but I love baseball after going. It was really fun. I’ve become such a cardinals fan. I went crazy when they won the world series. The central west end was really nice and it had great restaurants. Also, I loved the golf courses in forest park…and Wash U of course!

I forgot about Central West End! That’s by the medical school, right?

Also, while browsing WashU’s website, I came across this nice little video highlighting the campus:

[Sights & Sounds | About | Washington University in St. Louis](Campus Experience - Washington University in St. Louis)

Also, has anyone checked out the webcams? I feel like Big Brother or something:D
Here is the view from the Rubelmann House, and the others are listed at the bottom:

that picture makes me just want to be there right now
