Question:

Total number of German is 3 more than Total number of Latin. If number of both is equal to any one number of a language, then what is the number of students who took only Latin?

The answer is 9. Check it out.

Both(Middle overlap if Venn Dia.): 9
German ONLY: 12
Latin ONLY: 9
Total: 30

Total German: 12+9=21
Total Latin: 9+9=18

21 is 3 more than 18.

How about that?

impelling...

Crap, 9 doesn't equal 12. This is confusing. I'm thinking I got it wrong now..

Was it any one number of a language or who only took one language? If we knew that then we would probably know the correct answer..

no- its number of both is equal to number of only german + only italian.

9 doesn't equal 21 (9 +12)

If I don't get it right, then I don't deserve to be Asian :(

I'm gonna go change my race now...

according to your method, the number of students taking ONLY italian + the number of students taking ONLY German = 21....unfortunately for u-thats false. it said the number of students taking only one subject is 15 b/c the number of students taking both languages is equal to the number of students taking one language. BOOM. YOU LOSE

But, Narcissa 6 doesn't equal to 9 either...I don't know...

yes it does

15 both
9 german
6 italian
15 = 9 +6

well stephan i think you've convinced me.

what thread are they arguing over german italian

@stephan520, hmm...I see what your saying.

I didn't get that equal to number part right I guess. Man....

wow.. I'm glad I misread that or I would have put down 9 ...

well what do ya know...i prevail again! haha j/k... im glad you understand it now :-)

Never mind

okay for the one where it was like what is the tone of May's passage, did u put it was an adult reflecting on childhood or was it a child's new experience away from home

I thought equal to ONE language not both but I guess your right.

****!!!!

Did it really say 3 more GERMAN ONLY speakers than ITALIAN only speakers?

[/quote]
there is no difference, lol

adult reflecting on child's experiences because in the thing before the passage it said so.

quicksandslowly: same..
I put adult reflecting on childhood because the italicized words up top said like "protagonist reflecting on her childhood memories"
