Wayne State MedStart C/O 2011

Me too :)

Congrats aspiringmed.

Just heard back - got into Top 30!

@iamsocool wayne state kids can attend umich football games too…

Hah, I know. I never said they couldn’t…

i was just saying that wayne has no campus life at all

Kids who go to wayne have a easier time getting into a med school than those at umich.

I got the Top 30 invite too!

Did anyone respond to the med school email? Are we supposed to pick times now?

I’m a bit confused as well. Reply to the e-mail or call…?

I just emailed back - I think he wants to send out the schedule on Friday, but if we have questions we can still call him on Friday

ilovelost-

That’s just not true. It comes down to MCAT and GPA. Going to Umich helps when applying to the top schools- but does not hurt an applicant.

Unless you’re arguing that you learn more at wayne than Umich, which cannot be compared because it’s up to the student, then i don’t know what you’re talking about.

Schools will know that a 3.8 at Umich is as good or better than a 4.0 at wayne. And wayne kids are competing with the same kids Michigan kids are competing with, so you can’t say things like that.

but why am i wasting my time here

I’m asking the same thing: youre wasting time here. Good luck getting that 3.8 at umich lol. Pretty easy i bet.

Does anyone know any other cc threads or other blogs for medstart?

Can anyone else who went to the Top 30 interview comment on their interview/interviewer? To be honest, mine was pretty eccentric - he told me straight up he wouldn’t be asking me any questions relating to anything SOM, WSU, Medstart, etc related. To give you an idea of his questions, at the end he asked if who I would arrest if I could arrest anyone in the world.

^Woah, that is odd. Mine was very generic and lasted only about 15-20 minutes. I’m worried that it was far too short.

Mine was great. Lasted about an hour, more like a conversation than anything.

@bluecomptr what else did they ask? who was everyone’s interviewer?

I guess most of the other questions were more normal (best/worst experiences, favorite movie, etc), but basically nothing about anything school related. It lasted 40ish minutes.
From what I heard talking to a couple kids which I know, the (Associate) Deans took 15-20 min for all the kids, while the professors took longer

Mine was not a prof and it lasted like 45min

For whom is medstart their #1 choice?

I just joined college confidential; this thread is interesting! I’m in top 30 and I am a little anxious. How do they pick 15 out of 30 if all applicants at this point are “equally qualified?”

Also, I know there is no point of overly-analyzing because interviews are done and everything, but what type of healthcare experiences do you all have? and how competitive are your resumes?

^If you PM me your stats/resume/health ECs, I’ll PM you mine in return :stuck_out_tongue: I just don’t feel comfortable posting stuff on here.
