For those of you who are going to Unifieds in NYC and Chicago count on cancelled flights and travel challenges. The forecast looks bad. Try to avoid last flights out as they will likely be cancelled. But the colleges will be facing the same concerns and families will sometimes email to confirm the schedule. Safe travels to all. And if you were able to get early auditions done, you are lucky! Be cautious and give yourself plenty of time. Add to that the shut down effects and long the security lines. Hopefully LA will be an easier option
According to Accuweather Chicago looks cold but fine - but it’s a long way out. It’ll be sloppy in New York but shouldn’t affect travel too much this weekend. Really cold on Monday.
I strongly urge anyone coming to NYC to download the app called Citymapper. It will tell you which subway lines are NOT working. It can also help you get around the city with the most ease – it’s about 90% accurate which isn’t bad. You can also see if a bus is coming, and when.
NYC looks like heavy rain and windy for most of the weekend. Sunday night the temperature is supposed to drop suddenly from like the 40s to 9 degrees with winds. Whatever is wet will probably turn to ice. Monday will be very very cold. NYC tends to salt and sand streets well. And if you’re coming in to NYC it’s good to know that the subways will be running probably with the normal sort of delays that happen on weekends, when they tend to do repairs.
Your Citymapper app will help you a lot!
If you are planning on flying out on Sunday it might be worth looking into changing to Monday. All airlines are currently offering fee waived changes but Monday’s flights are going fast!
FYI – using cars like Lyft or Uber or a taxi in the snow in NYC will be really slow. Also buses. They are all slow. Especially if you’re in midtown (roughly between like 34th streets and 59th street in Manhattan) Subways are pretty good, though. Do get the app. It will help a lot. (Citymapper) and no I don’t work with or have any affiliation with that app!! I just know that it works. : )
@Dustyfeathers I heard 20degrees below
@Notmath1 – That’s probably wind chill. Its’ supposed to be in the single digits or low teens (10-12) with strong winds. Either way, bundle up!
