<p>We are coming to the campus for our audition. How long does the day generally run. We are trying to decide if we will need to stay the extra night after our audition or if we can fly home that evening.</p>
<p>My DD will be auditioning for Webster at the Unifieds in LA. How long do the auditions at Unifieds last?</p>

<p>For the on campus Musical Theatre audition, the day starts at 8:30 a.m. with check-in, and you should be done by 3:00 at the latest. We’re actually trying to re-work this a bit and shave some time off. I’ll check and see if we’ve made any progress. For the LA audition, your DD should have been given a specific day and time. The audition should last about 30 minutes.</p>

<p>If any of you have questions that you would like answered from a parent’s perspective I would be happy to answer them. We’re at the end of this road now and it’s exciting to look back at the last 3 1/2 years and see how far our D has come!

<p>Hi Marianne! Can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted here! I was hoping we could meet up but alas! Orientation week was hectic as expected, however we didn’t realize how little extra time there would be and now we’re a month into Spring semester! wow…</p>
<p>and your d is graduating! Is she doing the showcases in NY and LA? I live in LA so I’ll be there to support! </p>

<p>Yes, the time has flown by! I did meet Sara when I was out there in December to see The House of Blue Leaves. Yup Josie will be doing both the NYC and LA showcases. I’m going to NYC but probably won’t make it to L.A. so you will have to be the mom rep for me.</p>
<p>The senior showcase page is up on the website. Made it all seem very real and close all of a sudden. So exciting. She’s ready, not sure I am though. Sigh.<br>

<p>My D auditioned at the NYC unifieds in January and really liked Webster. Any idea how many they will accept and when/how they will notify everyone? The waiting is terrible!</p>
<p>I don’t know quite how many, but they made it pretty clear we won’t hear until around April 1st. They still have auditions until late March.</p>
<p>Alexa is right that you won’t hear until around April 1 as decisions are not sent out until all auditions are over. Indeed there are still auditions in late March to go. </p>
<p>According to CC members sharing data two cycles ago, people reported at that time that for the BFA in MT program at Webster, about 450 audition and 25-28 are accepted. A total of 50 are accepted for Acting and MT combined. This data may be out of date, however, but at least gives you some basic approximation.</p>
<p>I believe the Class of 2013 is like 28 with 10 acting majors and 18 MT’s. Also, I recall the Dean saying at last year’s audition that there is no particular mix of acting/MT’s. They are lookinig for the best 25 or 30 regardless of major.</p>
<p>I didn’t decide until really late that I was going to audition for Webster, but I’m SOOO happy I did… it seems like such a wonderful school, but I feel like there’s a lot about the program that i don’t know about.</p>
<p>What is something that you think the students find most helpful with the MT program?</p>
<p>Also, where do the students usually end up going after graduation? I’m just curious, cause I know a lot of schools will try to get their students to New York, but I’m looking more at other places like Disney World and Chicago… basically where do the students get cast after graduation, and are they successful?</p>
<p>Also, how do you think the vocal program is in the school? My strenngth is singing, and I’d like to go somewhere with a strong vocal program.( as well as acting, and dance, of coarse) Does the school favor any different types of voices? my vocal training has been mostly in Classical Musical theater and Opera-- I CAN belt, but my head voice is stronger.</p>

<p>I am not really qualified to answer all of your questions but I can answer a few of them. Webster does a showcase in New York and L.A. and they are working on adding Chicago. I just got back from watching the NYC showcase. It was great and the faculty was so supportive as was the strong group of alumni that came and were willing to help the class of 2010 make the transition into the professional world. </p>
<p>I know they have some students working in L.A. and a lot in NYC. There are also many working in regional theatres.</p>
<p>I’ll let someone else tackle the vocal questions but I know my D’s voice has grown and improved in the 4 years she has been there.</p>

<p>My guys graduated in 2008 and chose to go to LA. They really enjoy it out there and have gained their SAG and AFTRA union status. Currently they are looking to possibly relocate to NYC for a new opportunity. Webster prepares their students well for all aspects of theatre…and even film. They have excellent vocal teachers and will help voices develop immensely as Marianne said. Strong in acting though! They prepare their students to tackle difficult material such as restoration and Shakepeare.</p>

<p>On a facebook group, someone said they were accepted to Webster for Musical Theatre! Is that possible yet?</p>
<p>Weird. I don’t think anyone should have heard by now. They haven’t even finished all of their auditions… I heard that we’d get an email towards the end of March saying “no” or “hang in there, good news is coming”.</p>
<p>Yeah, they distinctly told me that it was their “policy not to notify anyone until after all the auditions, on April 1st, even though sometimes they want to jump across the table and make an offer.”
I thought maybe I was off my rocker when I saw that someone said they had gotten in!</p>
<p>Our last on-campus audition is this Saturday (3/20). Notification is via letter, with the goal of having these in everybody’s hand around April 1. Remember that in order to have audition results released, a student must be academically accepted.</p>
