Need to know where your classes are located? You’ve got questions about campus? We’ve got answers! Look for one of our Crimson Compass volunteers on the first and second day of class who will be ready to help you with any questions you have about campus. Volunteers can also show you how to use the Maps function on UA’s iPhone, Blackberry, and Android apps.

<p>India & The Culture of Yoga
Crossroads Community Center and Capstone International Center
Location: Ferguson Center 2nd Floor TV Lounge - outside of the Crossroads Community Center
Time: 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Start the academic year by learning about other cultures - and how to relax - at the same time! Traditional Indian dancer and teacher Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy will discuss the history and fundamental breathing techniques of yoga. Enjoy this informative session about how yoga can help relieve stress and become part of your healthy lifestyle. Afterwards, connect with staff from the hosting campus partners, Crossroads Community Center and Capstone International Center, to learn more about their programs offered throughout the year.</p>

<p>Homegrown Alabama Farmers’ Market
Homegrown Alabama
Location: Canterbury Episcopal Chapel, 812 5th Ave, Tuscaloosa, Ala. 35401
Time: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Join us at the Homegrown Alabama Farmers’ Market! Stop by for live music, crafts, and as always - fresh Alabama-grown produce, assorted flowers, honey, soap, herbs, and baked goods. Don’t have a kitchen? No worries! Recipes are on hand for easy to prepare meals in your residence hall. The market is held every Thursday from April through Oct. from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. on the lawn of Canterbury Episcopal Chapel. Homegrown Alabama is a student-led organization that seeks to increase awareness of the value of local produce by fostering partnerships between local farmers, the university, and surrounding community.

Greekfest is back again for another year of raising money for the community and bringing high-quality music to The University of Alabama. Hop a Crimson Ride and join us at the soccer field parking lot for a night of great music with 12,000 fellow students. Advance tickets are $35 per person, and UA students are limited to three tickets, two of which can be used as guest passes for non-UA students; tickets will be $40 at the door. Learn about the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) fraternities and sororities at UA. Topics will include membership requirements and the benefits of joining Greek Life. Connect with the Office of Greek Affairs to discuss important information about hazing as well as the various guidelines specific to joining an organization at UA. There is a $5 fee to attend Convocation and all proceeds benefit the NPHC S.T.R.O.N.G. Scholarship Fund which is given to a UA student at the Homecoming Step Show.

By getting involved with the Counseling Center, Crossroads Community Center, Student Health Promotion and Wellness, Safe Zone, University Recreation Center and Women’s Resource Center, students can foster bonds that will help with the transition to campus while understanding their personal wellness needs.

Come enjoy a friendly game of foursquare, corn hole, video games tournaments, and much more! Beat the heat with snow cones while meeting other Veteran students, service members and dependents. Also, learn about the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs and the many services they provide such as printing, computer lab access, and textbook rentals.

This will be a great opportunity to interact with faculty, staff, current student leaders, and other members of the freshmen class.

The Health Ambassadors will make sure students are informed about health issues that affect not only the Capstone, but also the entire country and world! As part of Campus Safety Week for Project Health, Healthy Hump Day will be talking about Pedestrian Safety. Be sure to stop by and play a game to win a free t-shirt! <p>Reese Phifer Scavenger Hunt & Reception

Location: Reese Phifer Rotunda
Time: 3:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Basements, departments, and ghosts - oh my! Learn about the various departments and programs in the College of Communications & Information Sciences, as well as the history and layout of the building, with a fun, interactive scavenger hunt! Meet other students studying communications, connect with faculty, and learn about the resources of Phifer Hall. Be careful though, you never know what you might find in the basement!

<p>Late Night - Stargazing
University Programs
Location: Gallalee Hall
Time: 10 p.m. - 12 a.m.
Enjoy a night under the stars! Join University Programs and the UA Astronomy Department from 10 p.m. to midnight to view the night sky through a 16" research-grade telescope in the dome at the top of Gallalee Hall. There will also be an astronomy expert available to answer questions on the planets and constellations. Refreshments will be served. Register for free at uafergons.tix.com.</p>
