First Year Experience and Parent Programs will be hosting an information and welcome table on the Ferguson Center Plaza for first-year students and their families. Students and their families will have the opportunity to learn about various areas at UA and connect with our office!</p>

<p>GROW: Graduate Orientation and Welcome
Graduate School
Location: River Market
Time: 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
New UA graduate students will be invited to the beautiful River Market venue to listen to live music, network with other new students, meet Graduate School staff and faculty and Graduate Student Organization officers. New graduate students will also get to learn about campus and community resources while enjoying free food and drinks. At the registration table, each student will receive eight mock business cards that will have their name on it. Each student who successfully networks and gives away all eight of their cards to other students or campus representatives is eligible to enter to win door prizes at the end of the event. This activity will help students interact and learn to professionally network.</p>

This is a chance for new students to meet UA’s IFC Fraternity leaders in the UA community! Enjoy a cookout, live band, cornhole tournament and learn about the different IFC fraternities on campus. This event will allow men who are interested in joining IFC fraternities, or simply those interested in learning about UA’s Greek community, a chance to interact with representatives from different groups as well as other men who are going through the recruitment process.

Excellence in service begins with The Center for Sustainable Service & Volunteerism Ripple Effect! Freshmen and transfer students are invited to begin their community service career with this annual event. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Ferguson Center Plaza and service begins at 10 a.m. Transportation will be provided to various project sites where students will volunteer until 1 p.m. Students will work alongside community members and UA student leaders, faculty and staff. Adjusting to college life can be tough, so be on the look out for Counseling Center staff on Monday, August 25th. Hoops for a Cause

At this “Late Night� event, University Programs will host a charitable basketball tournament. The purpose of this event will be to collect school supplies for selected elementary schools around the city of Tuscaloosa. Each member of the teams and members of the audience, are expected to bring school supplies. Along with the donations, there will be a dunk contest, 3-point trick contest and more. With a $500 scholarship for the winning team, Hoops for a Cause is sure to be an outstanding event. Register at upua.tix.com.</p>

Safe Zone Open House
The University of Alabama Safe Zone
Location: Ferguson Center, Room 2419
Time:5 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Safe Zone to welcome the campus community to the new Safe Zone space in the Ferguson Center. This event will bring together faculty, staff, and students in order to inform them as to where the new location is, as well as services that will be provided in that space.</p>

Join us for UA’s annual Get On Board Day (GOBD): the place to find a student organization that meets your needs and interests. Held each semester, student organizations, campus departments, area businesses, and community agencies will set up shop on 7th Avenue. Come chat with them and start determining what you want to get involved with. Get ready for an evening of great information, prize giveaways and more!</p>
