Weekend for Diversity students at ND

I was accepted to Notre Dame EA and invited to the weekend for diversity students during February break. Was anyone else accepted and if so what's your race? Also did they offer to pay for your flight/ rooming.
I'm just wondering because i'm half taiwanese and half italian and i really didn't think those two races would qualify as being diverse for colleges.

I got invited to this program last year, so I think I can answer you.
Yes, they paid for the travel and rooming expenses. I believe that as long as you are one-fourth minority, you’re considered diverse. In addition, since ND student body is predominantly white, the administration is doing a lot of things to attract minority students, even the mixed ones, so that the school will look better on papers.
Enjoy your visitation weekend, they will reveal to you your financial aid package and have different events to introduce you to different aspects of the school.

I didn’t get anything like that and I’m asian :/.

They only invite some of the accepted minority students

Is it through e-mail? A little hurt if that’s the case :p.

No, it was a letter. I got it last year and didn’t go. Honestly, its just a visit when its all said and done. ND just really wants minorities since traditionally and even today the school is very homogeneous. Asians are probably the biggest minority so thats prob why they don’t invite all of them. This is primarily for people who are black, hispanic, middle eastern. Also, if you are a Hindu or Muslim this is a minority since they ask your religion on the supplement.

I got an email

so does this mean that I have been accepted if I was invited to Spring Visitation in March?

so did they already send out notification for people who are invited to the spring program who applied regular decision?

gettingin11,

Did you apply regular decision?

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Yes, I did apply regular decision and I was invited to Notre dame’s spring visitation weekend March 31, 2011- April 3, 2011.

I got in early action and I ended up getting an invitation too!

I got invited too! I am hispanic but applied regular decision… So basically a likely letter. I am excited! Apparently lots of other schools do it as well.

smguevara, did you get an e-mail or regular letter?

I got an email, then a letter in the mail.

Fladad: I received an email and then letter.

hello guys. i also was invited to this spring visitation weekend. first i received an email and then a letter. my question is: does this mean that we are accepted??

Yes I believe so… They probably would not invest money into a “possible candidate”. Plus the email/letter says “we are more than sure that you would be an excellent addition to Notre Dame” <— basically saying congrats you’re in.

so is this something that all minority students are invited to or just some of them?

I believe accepted minority students.
