<p>Hey guys, I'm a sophomore at the moment. Currently, I'm in the highest English class offered for Sophomores: English 2 Honors. It's been not even a week, and I thoroughly hate it. I don't think I'd be succeed very well in AP English next year, due to its high level of boring and the 'you're in honors/AP English, so you must LOVE reading ONLY crappy classics and love to write really pointless prompts" attitude of our English department. </p>
<p>So bottom line, how hard would colleges look down on not progressing to AP English (honors English for junior year is easier than Honors English 1 and 2) and just taking honors English? I'll most likely take on my other core/elective AP classes, and do decently well in them (in addition to actually somewhat enjoying most of them). </p>
<p>Is this common among applicants or anything? Thanks guys.</p>
<p>The curriculum in AP Rhetoric is different. The stuff you’re doing right now is stuff for lit, maybe a bit in lang, but mostly lit. You should take ap lang because it’s easy and interesting. You learn to write rather than do the same 5 paragraph analysis essay.</p>

<p>You’re saying AP English is easier than a normal honor’s English 2 class? Or that the curriculum is more ‘standard’ in AP English so you can BS your way through with study guides and stuff? Teachers at my school are allowed to use whatever curriculum they so chose.</p>
<p>Take AP English next year. If you mean that you won’t succeed in the class itself (grade-wise), well I can’t say anything about that, and it would depend on the teacher. But, for AP English (Language, I’m assuming), success in the class =/= success on the test.</p>
