How much weight do UC admissions put on completion of all your classes for your major? For example, the classes that assist.org lists for you to take. From what I understand they put a lot of emphasis on this but I could be wrong.

the major prereqs are the most important classes you take other than the eligiblity courses of course because if you don’t take those you aren’t even eligible to apply.

Naturally, but I think my question wasn’t as clear as I thought it was. What I am asking is whether or not a person applying under a major that doesn’t require you to complete the entire list of classes only completes the minimum has a good chance of being accepted. For example, a major has 10 classes listed to take but only requires a minimum of 5. So you only take the minimum or a few more due to not wanting to spend extra time at a CC. I would imagine this would not look very good to admissions, but would it be such a big deal to greatly affect the chance of being accepted?

9/10

in some cases, 10/10.

it really depends on the major and how impacted it is at the school.

okay thanks for the information

Well, you should ALWAYS take as many prereqs as you can fit into your schedule. That said, I had no idea that prereqs were really important in the transfer process, so I completed about 2 out of 5 prereqs for my English major (and I think about 3 are necessary to declare). English is impacted at both Cal and UCLA, and I still got into both, no problem, so clearly you’re not doomed just because you haven’t completed every single suggested prereq.

If, however, you’re applying to a SUPER selective major that requires a min. 3.9 GPA and has a 20% admission rate or something along those lines, then my experience isn’t really helpful.

I also had a 4.0 when I applied AND a TAP to UCLA, so there’s no way to know whether I just scraped by and was admitted DESPITE my lack of prereq completion.
