Weighted vs unweighted GPA

This might seem like a stupid question, but how do I calculate my unweighted GPA? My school only tells you your weighted GPA (I think?)

My GPA is over 4 (it's a 4.1), which is why I'm assuming it's weighted. But I don't take any AP or honors classes, so is it weighted?

If I assigned a 4 to all the classes I have an A in, and averaged them, it would still be a 4.0 since I'm a straight A student.

But then, what about the whole, an A+ is a 4, and an A- is a 3.7? How am I supposed to know my percents? When I get my report card that has all my grades, there are just A's, not A+'s or A-'s.

Go to your Guidance Counselor to make sure - there’s no way to calculate the unweighted GPA since different schools use different systems (though I am wary of the A=4, B=3, C=2 thing because that seems like some heavy inflation.) But yeah, go to your GC and ask.
