Weird College Financial Aid Thing

Sorry about the title, but I didn’t know how to word it. Today, I logged into my Duke portal, and it showed my FAFSA and CSS and such on the financial aid page as received in early January when I sent them in. However, just today (2/20), my W2s and tax return files popped up as well. I find this weird considering my CSS and IDOC were completed at the same time (early January), so why just now are they getting the W2s and all over a month later?

The same thing happened to me! I was wondering why they didn’t request the tax documents until now, it being nearly the end of February and all. Perhaps it’s a good sign, and they’ve decided they’ll need our FA information after reviewing our applications? Or it’s utterly insignificant to the admissions process. Either way.

Same here!

Maybe the FA office was tied up until now with EDII?

@Mahavidya Duke doesn’t do EDII to my knowledge, so it’s just RD applicants. Since you guys experienced the same occurrence, it’s probably just the FA office getting to work on packages for applicants. I doubt it means anything unless all 3 of us somehow happen to be stellar applicants, which I’m really not. I just thought it was weird when I saw it, but it most likely doesn’t mean anything.

FA and admissions work separately from one another with different timelines. They all come together now. Admissions are making decisions.

@Jleto18 Probably, I doubt Duke would tip its hand like that. But who knows, maybe it means something. I’d like to hope so, anyway.

It’s like that for me too. I’d guess it’s the same for everyone.
