Weird deferral question

So, I was deferred from Georgetown on Saturday, which didn't particularly shock me.
I my GPA and SAT scores are around their middle 50%, and my essays were solid.

What I found odd was that I am would be a legacy, and in their deferral letter they said, "We have taken your family connection with Georgetown into consideration." yet I was deferred. Are they telling me that I'm just that bad? XD

Thanks for any input!

No. I am sure this is not about you.

I think they’re just trying to prevent hundreds of legacy applicants–not necessarily you personally–from calling up and saying, “What do you mean, I’m deferred? Don’t you know I’m a legacy?”

I know it’s really hard not to take every little thing personally. I remember when my kid was applying to college, how desperately I wanted to read meaning into every bit of communication–or, worse, silence–but the truth is, some things just don’t mean much.

Sorry you have to keep waiting.
