Does anyone know how big the rooms are at Welch? Specifically the common rooms and the singles?

Damn, you’re lucky you have a single. I’m in Welch next year, but with a roommate.

And if you look on the Davenport 2013 or 2014 Facebook group, there are drawings of the architectural layout of all of Welch - you’ll get a pretty good sense of the size of things from those. And Welch supposedly has some of the best freshman housing, so have no fear.

Welch is pretty spacious relative to other freshman housing. Large common rooms, the rooms aren’t badl, and there are in suite bathrooms.

Does anyone have any idea of the 12 pack…how large are the bedrooms and the common room?

Oh the 12 pack…

The 12 pack has two entryways in Welch, B & C. It’s two long hallways with 3 rooms (doubles) on one hall, and four rooms (2 doubles, 2 singles) on the other hall. Common room is pretty big, bedrooms as well.

So, formatting doesn’t let me make the diagram I wanted but just think try and see the two hallways and the common room at the bottom. the top is the B entryway, the bottom is the C entryway. There are 3 rooms and a bathroom on the left. The middle room on the left side is the nicest in the suite, it’s in a spacious L shape. On the right, there are 4 rooms, one in that little protruding thing at the top, and then 3 down the hall. The bathroom for this hall is right at the top of the hall, near the B entryway.

Advice: the 12 pack is relatively big, but it forces a lot of different personalities into a pretty small space. Someone in that suite needs to make sure that there is a lot of transparency in concern with gripes that people have with others. Talk openly about cleaning (bathrooms must be cleaned by the suite), parties, pregaming, and what everyone wants the suite to be like. Have suite dinners.

Is the 10 pack similar to the 12 pack?

Thanks so much ! Still trying to figure out which is the room I’m interested in…its near the C entry I think. Your advice is well taken, it will be quite an adventure getting so many ppl to agree to anything! Mixed feelings right now.

^ If you guys are just kind and open with each other, it’ll be great. Don’t be apprehensive, just make an effort to get to know everyone in your suite. They’re your first group of friends at Yale, before you join any clubs or meet people in classes. Make a good first impression. And, as the year goes on, make sure no one feels isolated and help out anyone having trouble adjusting.

The 10 pack is exactly the same as the 12, and it’s right across from the 12 in the B entryway. The common room is next to the B entryway, with the halls running down to the A entryway.
