SAT:
Just retook today to get my math score up. First time in June I got a 2070, 580M 720CR 770W. Today's SAT I'm looking at a 640-670M 720-750CR 800W hopefully. Not really sure with the math, I can only give a range.

SAT IIs:
US History - 800
Literature - Will take next month

ECs:
Model UN - President
Key Club - Secretary
NHS

Job in local gov.

Essays: I will show that I fit Cornell, I'll talk about how I will utilize their programs and courses to further my studies.

Recommendations: Will be excellent.

I know my SATs are weak, I was hoping for a 690 in math over the summer but serious stuff popped up that interrupted my study schedule. Nonetheless, will a 640 or 650 kill me that badly if I got that low? I think it's realistic that I got around a 660, which is only 10 pts off of the middle 50% for math.

You sound like a fabulous candidate. I wonder why your math was so low - does your high school have a good program! Cornell will be lucky to get you.

My school has a pretty good math department and I do fairly well, but I’m just not that great at SAT-type math and working under those time constraints lol. Right now I’m thinking it’s possible that I may have even gotten a 670 though; in any case, I’d be right where I need to be, along the edge of that middle 50%, either right outside of it or just inside.

Look, this is a chancing thread. If you don’t like “quotas” or “big boosts,” perhaps you ought to examine social realities and what produces inequalities.

And thanks oakley, hopefully everything works out here. :)

I don’t want to have this debate, but I take objection to Free Focus’s simplification of affirmative action. It has nothing to do with inequality; if it did the focus would be strictly promoting the admission of LOW INCOME applicants, not just “URMs”. It has to do with the “diversity” trend. Why should a wealthy minority get an admissions boost due to perceived class inequality despite the fact that they had all the advantages of being wealthy, while a low income applicant who actually IS in that lower class that happens to be white or Asian not be given that same boost? I’m sorry, the “inequality” thing is B.S. and you know it.

Well, I don’t know Freefocus’s income level, but Native Americans as group have the lowest income in the US.
But I don’t think that matters for FF. Fanatastic stats - Write a great essay. Is Cornell your top choice?
