by the way carm, your photographs were AMAZING...really i liked them a lot

cameliasinensis-

simply stunning pictures!

thank you! :)

Very odd, since my D's acceptance package had no DVD and the note inside said the course catalogs would be sent in May.

This struck me as odd as well. I think the catalogue comes before May 1 but a while after the acceptance.

I received my course catalog before the acceptance packet, but after the likely letter, and I didn't get a DVD. The catalogs and DVDs seem so random...From those I have talked to, some people got both, some people got one or the other, and others got neither.

Yeah I've gotten neither.
Kinda sad because I really want to see what's on that DVD!

Someone I know called the office and they said that we weren't supposed to get DVDs...? I guess those were a mistake. But we are supposed to get course catalogs, and if you don't have one, it's coming!

I swear to God, I did get the DVD and Course Catalogue. It's green. It's last year's (2006-2007) catalogue. I haven't watched the DVD yet, but the letter that it came with starts, "Dear (me), Congratulations on your positive Early Evaluation from Wellesley College!"

I thought that this was weird...guess I have someone in the admissions office who really loves me?? Hopefully they'll send my official acceptance packet one of these days!! :).

You can view the proposed courses and schedule for 2007-2008 on the Wellesley website. Keep in mind though that firstyears register at orientation in the Fall, while upperclasswomen register in April. Due to enrollment caps you might not be able to take every class that you want to during your first semester. I would advise against picking your 4 classes and having your heart set on them before you get to Wellesley.

I got my catalog last week and my promotional DVD yesterday. Still no decision after an EE likely.

Does anyone know the admission stats for this year? I'm curious about how many applications and how many acceptances there were. The acceptance letter didn't give any stats, which seemed unusual.

Decision: ACCEPTED!

Stats:
ACT:
SAT I: V 800, M 800, W 740
SAT IIs: Biology 750, Chemistry 780 Math II 760
Rank: 5/190
Doing British A?Levels. My subjects are physics, chemistry, biology and maths. Got above 91% in all 4 subjects during my Advanced Subsidiary exams.

Subjective:
Essays: Excellent. Everybody who read them thought they were really funny. My common app main essay topic was kind of flippant ? it was the significant experience one. I talked about 5 mins in a bio class where there was an internal debate going on in my head between ?fear of looking stupid? and ?good sense? about whether or not I should raise my hand to ask a stupid question. I thought long and hard about sending this ? but it seems the risk paid off.
Teacher Rec: one excellent, one ok
Counselor Rec: Good
Hook (if any): none

Location/Person:
State or Country: Bangladesh
School Type: private
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Hmmm?

Other Factors:
Extracurriculars: some random community service, worked for school newsletter, some web development and book collecting (you read that right). Also one of my essays was commended in an international essay comp. held by the Royal Commonwealth society.

Why I think I was accepted/rejected/waitlisted: no idea. Maybe the person who read my file was feeling generous? Seriously, I know of people with much better extra curriculars and more rigorous academics who didn?t get in. Although my acceptance letter said that my application showed a lot of personality. So maybe they liked my essays? I may be the only person who got in from Bangladesh. Oh, and the Financial aid was EXCELLENT. I got $ 43000 as straight scholarship money.

^Congratulations, you really deserved it!

Congrats mangoluverin!!!
My cousin was an international from Bangladesh and graduated '03 from Wellesley.
I think she was the only one from BD her year too, but I'm not sure.

haha sorry for the random info...congrats! :]

Did everyone get a personal note on their acceptance? Mine didn't mention anything specific about my application.

mine didn't either... it just said "congratulations" in pen. which is funny because when i got into georgetown i got a handwritten card from the dean saying how much he liked my essay.... and it really does do wonders for a school's image!

i love me some wellesley, though. can't wait to visit in a week!

I kind of thought the first paragraph was "personal", explaining what the admissions people liked about you.. after that it was "glider pilots and flautists".
Or were all the letters the same and the only personalization was the handwritten part?

Or were all the letters the same and the only personalization was the handwritten part?
That's what I thought; I'm not sure, though.

I haven't gotten my decision package yet. Some other people at my school got them on Monday, though...guess I'll have to wait for the mail today or tomorrow.
