Wellesley RD........

I haven't visited Wellesley yet.. a friend's dad is convinced there are only snobby girls there. Of course, I don't believe him. 0:)

My boyfriend's waiting on his decision at BU. Are they doing it in portions or something?

Wellesley is REALLY beautiful, Millie! It's not one of my top choices but the campus is one of my favorites.

I'm trying to convince my mum to fly over there with me during spring break! I've only seen Wellesley through photos and Mona Lisa Smile. My interviewer said it was like her little snow castle though.. Haha

waitlisted. so sad. ahhhhhh

Banana, I'm African American, and yes I am a senior.

So far I have heard from 3 schools(Colorado College, Williams, and Carnegie Mellon), and have been accepted to all along with an invite to fly out on their dime to see if I like the place.

I haven't received my letter from Wellesley yet, probably tomorrow.

Karibu88, I thought I was the accordion player! Haha didn't know there were two...

I was going to say that too but I didn't want to offend either accordian players! :P

I'm so mad! My D was EE "likely" and got her acceptance package today. Inside the sealed financial-aid envelope was a letter saying they were still waiting for 2006 tax information and W2s. I sent all that to that da*n IDOC (College Board) address with everything they required, Priority Mail, as requested, on March 1. Delivery confirmation showed the package arrived on March 3. On March 5 (Monday) I checked the IDOC website and they still said they'd not received anything. I called IDOC and was told they usually took two days to enter the information into the system and to call back if it didn't indicate receipt on the website by Wednesday. On Wednesday the website status showed everything had been received Tuesday. Tonight I checked and it shows they sent the information to Wellesley on 3/13. So, even after filling out and sending Wellesley's FA supplemental form, completing my taxes and sending them to IDOC over three weeks ago, my daughter still has no idea if she'll be able to attend Wellesley and can't make plans for any accepted-student events. I don't understand how a process that is designed to streamline FA can be so bog slow and apparently inept. I've completed the FAFSA, Profile, Wellesley's supplemental form, completed my taxes and sent everything to IDOC. They took over a week to transmit it to Wellesley. Anyone else having problems with the IDOC system? Is this Wellesley's first year using it? The result is bordering on cruelty.

I got my big envelope today - I'm so happy!!! Wellesley is definitely up there on my list...and they gave me a really nice fin aid package too! Basically about $1,600 is loans and everything else is grants =)

It's so amazing to see all the accomplished women who were accepted! I'm definitely not one of them lol Congratulations to everyone who got in, good luck to those who were waitlisted, and keep your hopes up to those who were rejected!

Sorry to break the flow of things but what's the difference between loans and grants?

Loans you have to pay back, correct?

And grants...?

grants you don't have to pay back

Grants are gift money...the kind of money that you want!!!

I am surprised to hear the problems that many are having with financial aid, being that Wellesley has been touted as being financially generous. Again, if Wellesley is a top choice, I strongly encourage you to appeal your award if you think it is totally off-base!! Mistakes do happen/things are missed/extenuating circumstances can be explained. At least give it a go if you really want to go to Wellesley...it can't turn out any worse for you than it already is.

How do you get to the admitted student's website?

Thanks!

Any other EE likelies starting to get nervous for tomorrow?
I hope getting ours late isn't a bad omen.

oh i was a likely and i got my package today

Yeah I think most of us did :/

My mailman still hasn't arrived! This is driving me nuts :(

cay10789, haha, are you going to the open house on April 18/19? If yes, then we should meet!! Accordion players of the world unite ;-)

I was a likely, I'm from California, and I got my acceptance packet today. :) So excited!...except for two little problems: I have one of those strict, overbearing Asian dads who has never heard of Wellesley, and the packet said that my financial aid was also incomplete..?? I don't know what to do. Money is a huge barrier for me, too. ahhh, this is so bittersweet.

I GOT IN! After an EE "possibly"!!

I was seriously shocked. I was not expecting an acceptance--totally almost cried. lol

I just sent them my financial aid stuff, so my letter just said they still needed to review it and would send my package "under separate cover."
This is so incredible. :)
