Hi,

This information is available on the "Official ED decisions" thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=15049

Thats true no one has consolidated the decisions in one final list (I'm doing it tomorrow...). For now you can browse the thread.

I think there were only two recruited athletes on the list - Dizzyson and gaussianprime

There doesn't seem to be any response from any athletes. Did any get in at all???? How about deferred???? How about rejected. All of the stats I seem to read mention some type of music in the student's background. The only sport I have read about is Dizzymom, but we don't know what that sport is. Can any athletic recruits please respond???????????????

MommyPain, what is it that would you like to know about athletic recruiting? I'm an athlete in the class of '08 and I can assure you that there were athletes admitted early for the class of '09; there always are. It seems pretty clear that athletes in general do not flock to CC in large numbers.

Mike, I have some questions and will PM you.

I am a recruited athlete (softball) accepted for the class of 2009. I can say, viewing the results of those deferred and rejected that softball was hands down what got me in. I can help you out with a little of the ivy league recruiting policies if you would like... I was lucky enough to get a "likely" letter the end of October so that made the whole waiting thing a lot easier!

I'm also curious, any other athletes? What sport?

bri77, I will PM you.

A rower from my school was admitted ED this year; a rower was also admitted ED last year.

i was addmited...
i play tennis...
i am simply the best tennis player you could imagine ;o)

I was accepted ED; I row. I wasn't recruited for rowing - I've only been doing it since August, and I'm nowhere near as good as the rest, but I'm sure it helped the decision. Of the 15 people who had been in contact with Wendy (the freshman women's coach), 12 got in, and the other 3 were deferred.

Pretty;
My D is a talented and motivated athlete who excels at softball, but may or may not be able to make Princeton's SB team.
Does the rowing team recruit athletes, like yourself, and invest in their training?
(An obvious assumption is that she can qualify academically, which she does.)
Thanks;

Softball Dad

Oh most definitely. Some of the very best rowers haven't rowed before college, they're simply athletic people. As for if they "officially" recruit non-rowers, I'm not exactly sure, I'm going to lean towards no but I really have no experience on that side. Your best bet will to be to get in contact with the coaches, if you go to the crew website there is a recruiting form you can fill out and you can just write that you have no experience etc. and you will get in contact with our new freshman coach, who was just announced today!

I know for swimming they do not actively recruit people who have "potential." I am pretty sure for rowing it is the same and it is based on ur individual times on the rowing machine (and other factors, i had a friend that was recruited to penn for rowing).

I know of people who have been recruited for crew "potential" at other schools, but I have never heard specific examples from the Ivy League.

BRI

Did you get the likely letter before or after you applied officially?

I was accepted as a recruited athlete.

ummm... i might be considered an athlete, though i'm not sure yet ;)

i run track, and my times are so-so. My coach and i are writing to the pton coach next week, so we'll see!
