Wesleyan with low scores?

Hey guys,

I am a US-citizen living in Asia and I am applying to Wesleyan through its ED1 program.

Like what the title says, my numbers are pretty below-average for a Wesleyan student.

GPA: 3.66 (most advanced classes)
SAT 2050 Reading 650 Math 700 Writing 700
SAT2 Chinese 800 (not my native language, although my ethnicity is chinese) and World History 600

A nationally ranked junior archer, a summer research intern at a uni, very involved in Mock Trial, Newspaper editor, etc...and Im guessing that my essay and rec letters are ok...

What I'm trying to say is, is there anything I can do in order to maximize my chance of acceptance? I think I have shown my commitment through ED, but I really want Wesleyan to know that it is my first school and a good fit. Thanks for reading all this.

You can request an interview with a Wesleyan alumnus in your country. Wesleyan is one of the colleges that does give some weight in an evaluative way to interviews. Good luck!

Morganhil, thank you for responding. Do you know how I am supposed to get a WesID for an alumnus interview? I sent an email to the Wesleyan admission office asking for one a few days ago, but did not get a response yet…

And beside, is there anything special that the interviewer asks to the applicant? Or is it pretty straightforward like “Why Wesleyan?”.

I don’t know about Wesleyan but from what I’ve read the test scores are not as important to college admissions officers as your transcripts (Rigor of classes, GPA and placement in class.)
