bump just seein if anyone has any other suggestions

OK I have a stupid question. So if you take your Ipod and phone with you on the plane what do they do with it when you get there?

Take it away.

Let your parents bring it to you on A-Day or ship it to you. I don't think you can have an Ipod as a plebe, but you can have your cell phone.

Not a dumb question at all Ksarge. I was wondering this same thing since my son is traveling alone to R-day. I am sure he would like to have his Ipod on the plane and I would like him to have his cell phone while traveling.

MOT - If they take it away, will it be left in their bag with civilian clothes or kept somewhere else? I'm just wondering how secure it will be.

Perhaps some cadets can verify this, but I believe they will have storage space in the barracks. Their civilian clothes and anything not allowed will be kept here. After the marchback they will have access to these items.

It'll be secure. They'll leave all their extra gear in the "Trunk Room" a locked room in the basement of the building. This is where all your extra stuff goes during the academic year too.

Thanks for the information bzzzt!

on friday i got two hardcover books from usma's cadet honor and respect committees. i have started reading them, as i assume they are required reading before r-day. i havent heard anything about these books, and there isnt anything concerning books on the list of things allowed to bring. do i take them with me on july 2?

thanks,
cristina

I was wondering the same thing about the books, the letter they sent with them didn't even mention them, so I haven't started reading them yet.

There is no required reading, last year they sent me and all my other classmates some book on ethics which I think I may have opened once. Although I am sure it would not hurt if you read the books, you will not get in any trouble if you do not.

the thing is..i was at a dinner recognizing graduates and cadet candidates and one of the speakers mentioned 'leadership lessons from west point' (one of the books they sent). he said that it was a book all cadets read...so do we bring these along only to have them taken away??

I dont know have yall even attempted to read the book?? it is well its... not very interesting to say the least

NOT interesting? Oh man...I respectfully disagree.

I just got mine in the mail this afternoon and haven't gone home yet, so I haven't seen them, but they sounded pretty interesting from what my mom was saying on the phone.

I dont know if any of you get the prospective net list but the question about whether or not to bring the books was answered. I guess someone contacted their admissions officer and was told to bring the books to R-Day. Someone might want to check this out though just to make sure.

OK just thought it might be good to sum up a list with/without some of the stuff that has been discussed. If anyone has any suggestions just add or subtract what you think is necessary.

K-sarge, I'm on prospective-net and I haven't seen anyone say that they called admissions and were told to bring the books on R-day. Can you tell me the name of the person that posted this?

If true, it would be nice if they put the books on the packing list in the "instructions for candidates" booklet or if the letter included with the books said to bring them.

West Point has my x-rays, am I supposed to bring another copy of them?

It was from ******* and was recieved on June 6. Hope this helps!

About the stationary, on the Air Force forum I was reading and one of the current zoomies said that stationary, stamps, and envelopes were issued on I-Day. Does anyone know if this is true for WP? Also I forgot to put on the list travel reciepts and you alarm clock.
