A couple years ago, I made West Point my dream school too!
I did a lot of research on the school, and still have a regional admissions officer in my contacts list.
From what I learned, you need a triad of academics, sports, and ECs with leadership. I think you have all that. You do not play a “hard”/contact sport, but I still think you have a pretty good chance!
Good luck!
For duty, honor, country. ;)

And if you write essays or have interviews, make sure you place emphasis on not wanting to go to USMA, but place emphasis on your wanting to be an Army officer.

Your grades, class rank, and extracirriculars look good. However, there is much more that is considered. I have been constantly hearing about the application process from several of my friends at school who want to go there (plus my brother wants to go there). So this is what I know.

Leadership positions are key in athletics, school clubs, and your community. Eagle Scout is a great to have; but you didn’t really list any others. Try for some more positions, especially in school (like president/officer of an honors society, president of a cultural club, or captain of a team if you aren’t already).

The physical test is also important. You should try to max out on at least 2 or 3 of the 6 events and perform above average on most/all.

Apparently there are many interviews for a variety of things (nominations, the school itself, etc.), so those are big too.

On the SAT, aim for a 2000 or above (that’s what the average is around). Since you’re in the top 5% of your class, this should be fairly doable for you.

I hope this info helps you. You seem like you’re definitely on the right track. This is probably the most involved and time-consuming application process for a college (at least of those that I know of), and there’s alot that’s considered. I hope you are able to fulfill your dream and make it in. Good luck!

Thank you very much! I did forget to add that I am captain of my golf team and have been for the past two years. I am nowhere near perfect and know that I need to work very hard to get into the Academy. I always keep my late Great Grandfather’s (Who was a highly decorated World War II vet.) quote in my head, “The greatest accomplishment is to fail because when you succeed the next time around, it makes you a real tough son of a *****.”

Thank you very much on behalf of all enthusiastic students. I know that you have probably helped many people and I will like to say thanks if they had not already. I will keep you posted on my progress! I forgot to ask in my original question but… is being accepted into USMA SLS a big boost on the application?
