I'm a freshman relocating to West Quad in less than two weeks (!) and I have a few questions regarding my dorm shopping endeavors.

How is MWireless in West Quad? Should I invest in an ethernet cable?

Do rooms come with mirrors in them or should I get my own?

Do rooms come with towel racks installed in the walls?

Is there any way to know if my room will come with a sink? I know, it's probably unlikely, but...

Are there community kitchen areas where I can go to wash my dishes?

Are people really loud in this dorm, especially after 11 pm? Are earplugs recommended?

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

rooms may be different but my d was in 2nd Winchell and
- poor wireless in room so she needed an ethernet cable
- small mirror on wall
- yes, towel rack
- not sure but I thought you could look up a diagram of exact room - or maybe that was at one of my older kids schools?
- no kitchen on her hall - she washed dishes in bathroom
- her hall wasn’t too loud but the alley between the Union and her room was loud - especially early morning deliveries

Thanks, ShanghaiMom! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any floor plans for the rooms online.

My friends who lived in West Quad in 1st Rumsey-Allen had sinks but from what I hear this isn’t always the case…The halls do get a bit loud on weekend nights as the dorm is in the middle of central campus and many kids come back drunk at night but it isn’t as bad as Markley.

You are really lucky you got West Quad! I had Bursley freshman year and while West Quad has more upperclassmen, the location and room size are amazing!

Thanks for the info bluedevilsfan! Earplugs it is then. And I am definitely envious of your buddies who got sinks.

I know. I was so grateful to be placed in West Quad! Since I live in A2 already, my parents were going to make me stay at home this year unless I got assigned a “good dorm” (central or the hill, by their definition, although I disagreed). It was great to know I’d get to have a complete freshman experience like everyone else.
