Wharton LBW

Could anyone give me more information on this program and what my chances are of getting in.

Here are my Stats:

GPA: 3.95/4.0 Unweighted 4.25 Weighted (2 B+ and 3 A- both sophomore year) W/ fair amount of honors
ACT: 32 (34,33,29,30)
Recs: Great
Essay: Good (About being Junior class Co-Chair for school's field day, which is a big deal at our school. We plan coustumes, 8 foot square wood/foam banners, a dance/march thing, a floor show skit, class song and field events. We were severe underdogs and ended up winning by 2 points against the seniors. Effective leadership if you ask me.)

Here are the EC's i plan to use: (I wrote them 75 words to fit on the application)

Water for a Cause:
Founder/CEO of “Water for a Cause”: a Student run non-profit organization which uses a business style approach to raise money for the water crisis in Africa. By establishing a team of 6 other student leaders, and roughly 50 fellow classmates, we were able to launch a community wide home-delivery system of bottled water. As CEO I oversee every facet of our operation from Distribution to Finances. Year to date, we have raised approx. $3,000.

Forensics:
Sophomore year I joined my schools Forensics Team after taking Speech class as a freshman. I competed in the Sales Category, which poses an objective to “sell” the judges on your product of choice. At my first tournament ever, I didn’t semi-final; however, Forensics quickly became my passion, and at the State Tournament I won the Class A division. I also received the MVP in Public Address, and the Best newcomer awards.

Student Council:
Sophomore year I held the position of class treasurer. Yet, this year I was elected Junior class Co-President, which has allowed me to truly take an active role throughout the school. Besides the usual junior class responsibilities of planning Prom and our Winter Formal, I have spent many hours on countless other school and community service related activities including a school wide charity event called “Jail Day” that I am spearheading.

Then they give you space for any additional so i am putting this:

Boy Scout: Life Rank, with a completed eagle project currently in the process of finalizing paperwork for Eagle Scout (expected completion May 08)

Field Day: Junior Class Co-Chair, and Sophomore Class Banner Chair

Penny Project: “Micro lending” leader in a Church organized non-profit organization that is raising 23 million pennies ($230,000) for each person affected with aids in Africa. I specialize in the Micro lending sector of our organization which is attempting to raise $150,000 to set up a Micro-Bank in Africa.

Let me know what you think.
-Thanks

I think you're easily in. I really don't think LBW is that competitive. It costs 5,000 K and you're not getting any credit. I'd be very surprised if you were rejected.

terrapin i'm pretty sure lbw is hard to get into. anyone want to clarify?

I think you have great chances

Ummm, MichiganWarrior, do you know if you can change the online application once you submit it?

I don't know, I haven't tried it. Why?

I filled out the online app. partially, but now I don't know how to go back and make modifications/additions :S

in that case, i think you have to re-start. I did that a couple times and i don't think you can get back in unless you did the whole thing. They give you a login when you are done.

so is anyone else applying to lbw?

I am too! My extracurriculars aren't quite as impressive as yours though. I'll post my full stats when I'm done - I completed it already and lost it because I didn't know that it didn't save :</p>

Does anyone know how many people apply each year?

no clue, i searched lbw and theres a huge thread from last year...im surprised it's not the same this year
