I just took my first SAT and have mixed feelings about the results. I had a 2170 composite, but my scores were extremely lopsided (780 math, 770 writing, 620 critical reading). I'm guessing that right now this is not competitive for schools like Duke, Northwestern, Penn, Williams, etc. What would I need to get on my next testing for critical reading to make me "competitive" at these schools as far as scores? I had a 68 CR PSAT score so I'm wondering if this 620 was just a fluke. If I score better will colleges still look at the 620 and hold it against me? If my math or writing goes down by 20-30 points will that be held against me as well or will colleges really only look at your best combined? Thanks.

They look at your best individual scores but it's not a good idea to want to compare scores at a place like CC...
