What are my chances as a Junior?

Here are my stats/info(As of Junior Year)Average-96(UW),105(W),rank-(8/404), have taken all honors and AP Classes, got a 5 on the Euro exam, 4 on the World, and 3 on Biology. I'm currently taking AP American and AP Lit. Next year along with honors classes I'm taking AP Calc BC, AP Macro, and AP Language. I've played baseball since I was 5, travel ball and school team(captain on JV and playing on Varsity this year), orchestra since 4th grade(first chair), over 100 hours of community service, Intel Science Club, National Honor Society, and Foreign Language Honor Society. Sat was a 1760(I will retake it, and also I will take the ACT)

Please let me know your opinions, Syracuse is one of the schools I'm interested in attending.

Your GPA, ECs, and schedule are all fine. Try to get your SAT above a 1900 and you’re an easy in as long as you show interest. I would suggest that you visit campus and do an interview. Also, try to show real passion for something. I suppose you’ve done that with baseball, which is really good, but if there’s something that you’re really academically passionate about, show it. If you can get your SAT into the 2000s, you have a good chance at some mid-sized scholarships.

Thank you for the info and the feedback!

Does it help at all that I plan on majoring in history or poli sci?

Bump any other opinions?

Andy, I think the BEST answers to any “chance” questions can be found in previous years’ acceptance threads and your own school Naviance (If you have one) I LOVE Naviance cause it offers an “apples to apples” comparison as far as weighted GPA’s and factors in any “softspot” the university might have for your HS. CC’s previous acceptance threads are good because they can show the varied average accepted gpa’s and test scores for a particular “school” within the school or major (ex: Newhouse stats as opposed to school of education) You might want to hold off a bit, with so many kids from this year still waiting to hear from Syracuse, it might take a while for others to be comfortable posting accepted stats. That said-your stats are verrrrry pretty!

Thanks so much. And yes I have Naviance, I completely forgot about that. And I will check people’s stats, although many haven’t posted their’s yet.

So I just found out I got a 26 on my ACT. I’m obviously going to take it again, but does this help me or hurt me as of now?

Yeah- I think Syracuse is pretty good about score choice (If you take it again, you’ll probably do better, and they’ll look at that score). I think that as long as you keep up your grades up, write a decent essay, and focus on the aspect of yourself to “sell”- you’ll be fine. Really, scores aren’t everything. I got dually enrolled Newhouse/ Arts and Science with a 25 ACT and a 1650 SAT. You should definitely work on your scores, but don’t be too critical.

I’ll work on them, but not worry too much. If you can get into Newhouse witha 25, I think I have a decent shot at Arts and Science with a 26
